Im finding that eventright.com seems to be good to use. It's free, and they only charge if there are tickets sold. I think its a combination of wiki posting, direct email, osm message, google callendar, and talk-ca, meetup.com, twitter, facebook As not everyone is using all the mediums available.

According to the registrar openstreetmap.ca was renewed. Of course the admin contact info is unlisted. So I used Cira's (group in charge of .ca) service to send an email to the admin of the domain. Still waiting to hear back. Tyler Sent from my iPhone
