Re: The Talk2 List It is currently 4 degrees Fahrenheit.
Wow! It’s like seeing a load of old friends after a long break. Oh I do state the obvious don’t I? Lol! well, I haven’t forgotten you all anyway, well those of you I knew in the first place. Good to see this list still lives after all this time. Lynn On 20 Feb 2015, at 10:34, Patrick Perdue wrote: > Just thought you should know. Re: The Talk2 List Too much time on their hands perhaps?
Wow! And I thought I did some daft things, having way too much time on my hands, but I've never done one quite that daft. That was really quite amusing, and now the blinkin' thing's going round and round in my head. Lol! Thanks for sharing. Lynn
Re: The Talk2 List One question.
Wow! That nearly fooled me. I did get it right before looking at the answer, but only just. I'm gonna try that one on all my friends, and see how many get it wrong. I bet some do haha! Lynn
The Talk2 List Fw: this is funny
I don't normally make a habit of forwarding messages, but this one's just hilarious. It's even funnier if you try and read it with the relevant accent. It certainly made me laugh lots anyway. Re: The Talk2 List A little mind-boggler for you
Well done Tasha, you're dead right, and yours was the first e-mail I got. Also well done Patrick, and good on ya for giving the whole answer to the challenge. I hope you all enjoyed fathoming that one out. I certainly found it fun, and the way it happened to me in the first place made it even more so. I may be back with more in the future if I can think up any. Lynn
Re: The Talk2 List A little mind-boggler for you
Nope ... no-one's got it so far. It's only a tiny little word. Keep on trying. Gosh this is fun! Lynn
The Talk2 List A little mind-boggler for you
Hi all I just have to share this with someone, because it made me laugh so much, and I thought since it had me baffled for a little while, I'd present you all with the same sinario as what just happened to me, and see if you can figure what happened. I was playing Boggle, which is a game where you have to pick out words from a grid of letters, and I'd started to struggle to find words, so was looking down the list of what I already had, and suddenly, my text to speech hit upon a word, and spouted out "one thousand and nine". Thinking something must have flashed up on screen or something, though why it would do that, I couldn't say, I tried going up and down to the previous and nextwords, which read ok, but this one word would keep reading as "one thousand and nine". All of a sudden, I got it, without actually looking at the word in question. So now, here's your challenge. Can you guess what the word was, and why it read like that? I'll give you one clue, to be fair, because I probably wouldn't have got it without knowing this: The words I was looking at at the time all started with the letter M. Have fun Lynn
Re: The Talk2 List Fw: Common words
Wherever did you get those from? they're excelent. My friend Allan and I were trying to do those a while back, and I ran out of ideas, so I stopped, but I reckon this has started me off again. I particularly liked "flabbergasted". Any kind of word play rocks in my opinion, so keep it coming. Lynn
Re: The Talk2 List Ralph and Edna: a funny for ya!
Lol, lol and double lol! That was brilliant. Keep 'em comin'! Lynn
Re: The Talk2 List Here's a link to make you laugh
haha Great ain't he? If I hadn't actually been in the same room as a bird that could do all that, I probably wouldn't believe that all those sounds are the bird. My friend has one, and he's like a living recording device. Calls all their dogs by name, opens and closes doors, and even makes the sound of running water. He's truely amazing.
Re: The Talk2 List Testing
I don't think it's just you having this problem. Sometimes it takes ages for mine to go through, and also, when I receive mail from this list, it always seems to come through in the wrong order. More than once, I've got replies to a message, and it's taken a day or more to get the original message.

Re: The Talk2 List THE HORROR OF LURKING
Ok how weird is this: I was playing a word game, where you have to find as many words as you can in a grid of letters, and I'd just entered the word "lurk" when I decided to take a break, and check my e-mails. And what did I find in my inbox? "the horror of lurking". Now strange coincidences don't come much stranger than that, do they? OH and a very amusing read that was too. Painted lots of interesting and amusing pictures, and left me giggling long after I finished reading it. I love nothing better than a good laugh, so do keep the funny jokes coming in. Re: The Talk2 List web mail
Oh looky. Now look who's making silly spelling mistakes Mr. Louis. I know I counted at least twice that you wrote "an" instead of "am". I knew straight away that you were using t9, because I'm always doing that too. What I want to know is, why do they call it t9 when t is number 8? See, it's not just eloquence that's stupid. I can't talk really though, because I use both of the aforementioned items. Did you miss a message? Well, don't. http://www.mail-archive.com/talk2%40andrelouis.com/ has it for you. Re: The Talk2 List difficult phrases
Oooo! Hope all goes well in the dental department. As for difficult phrases, I bet your lips will be numb when you come round, so gotta try the good old "peter piper picked a peck of pickled pepper". Or "the bloke's back brake block broke". Could have some interesting results. If not, then your tongue might have gone numb. (It all depends if the tooth/teeth they pull are at the top or the bottom). If that's the case, something with lots of s's will be interesting to try. I think the most difficult s phrase I can think of is "the sixth sick sheik's sixth sheep's sick", although I find that flippin' hard even when my mouth's not numb. As I said above, I hope all goes well, and I look forward to hearing any recordings you do. Lynn Did you miss a message? Re: The Talk2 List *** SPAM *** Re: A bit of word play for you to have a go at
Ok everyone, here's the names I found, in no particular order. Some are presenters, and a couple are people I've met through TBRN, over Team Talk and the like: Andre, Raynbo, Derek, Brandon H, Bryan/brian (either one works. that could refer to Bryan Smart, and also Canadian Bryan who calls in regularly), and finally Haroon, who I met through Team Talk. That's all the ones I found anyway, but I may have missed some. Did you miss a message? Well, don't. http://www.mail-archive.com/talk2%40andrelouis.com/ has it for you. Re: The Talk2 List *** SPAM *** Re: A bit of word play for you to have a go at
those are fantastic! I'm rubbish at doing great long ones like that that use all the letters, because I can never remember which letters I've already used, and which are left. I should perhaps practise on shorter phrases with fewer letters. Did you find any of the names? I was quite surprised how many there were. Did you miss a message? Re: The Talk2 List Possibly an Eloquence mispronounce
Ya know, I used to absolutely hate it in the older versions, totally refused ever to use it, then I got a talx phone, that just happened to have a Britttish (or whatever it's meant to be) accent, and I got so used to it, that now the American one, just grates on me. Granted it is much more accurate, but the Brittish one doesn't sound quite so much like an American trying to be English as it used to, and I'm just kinda used to it now. I do agree though that the American one does sound far more natural. Did you miss a message? Well, don't. http://www.mail-archive.com/talk2%40andrelouis.com/ has it for you. Re: The Talk2 List Possibly an Eloquence mispronounce
blimy! even eloquence isn't that bad. It says "beeta" for "beta". Mind you I use the Brittish version, so I don't know what the American one does. Ok, I've just checked, and it does pronounce "beta" differently but it definitely doesn't say "bada". I'd guess it's more a case of the person simply trying to spell the word as they've heard it said. It's interesting though how we miss-spell words because we hear the wrong sounds. Re: The Talk2 List a bit of word play
oh yeah, never thought about the accent thing. That'll be interesting, cos you might come out with words that look strange to us brits. Go for it. Let's see what you come up with. And that goes for anyone else out there too. This could be fun. Lynn Did you miss a message? Well, don't. http://www.mail-archive.com/talk2%40andrelouis.com/ has it for you. The Talk2 List a bit of word play
Hi all Here's a little play on words I wrote about a year ago. See how many mistakes your spell checker can pick up in this lot: Confusion Rains Isn't it strange how their are sew many words inn the English language witch sound the same, but are spelt differently. Won day, eye kneaded two right a letter too my friend, so aye sat down with a pen and a peace of paper and set to work. However, as soon as eye began to right, aye could tell that something was knot write. Everything eye rote looked wrong, butt I kept on going. Once eyed finished, eye red it threw, to sea if eyed maid any really dreadful mistakes, and although eye sore know obvious errors, it still didn't luck write, sow eye decided to type the hole lot out on the computer, and run it threw my spell cheque program. It couldn't sea any errors either, so having searched fore ages in my stationary draw four a stamp, aye rote my friend's address on a nice blew envelope, and scent the original copy off to hymn. Sew, their yew halve it!

Re: The Talk2 List Are you an unintentional spammer?
She's got it in a nutshell. I hate those sort of messages. So many of my friends fall for them and send them on to all their friends, and usually by the time I've got past all the hundreds of people they've sent the message to, I'm bored anyway, so I just delete the bloomin' things. I'd never send them on anyway, cos they're a waste of time and energy and they drive me nuts!
Re: The Talk2 List Fw: translations, year 3
That was absolutely hilarious! You know, I think I might try that with one of my LJ entries. That's almost as funny as the LJ Markov random text generator. I wish that was still going, I really really do. Lynn

Wo! that was a good one. I found Alice's exploding oranges very amusing. My mum's called Alice, so I'd better keep my eyes out next time she offers me fruit salad. haha! Keep 'em comin' they're great!
