syncing contacts from address book

2010-04-22 Thread Carsten Guthardt-Schulz
Hi all,

Sorry, I have to ask again, since I'm getting kind of desperate:

Is there any way to SYNC the address book with ANYTHING?

I'm not even asking about the iPhone anymore, I would just be happy to have a
bidirectional sync to any other program or device. The only solutions I have
come accross so far are:
-ArtelPlus (bidirectional, but limited to Windows Mobile)
-Mobile Master (can sync with lots of devices and programs, but only FROM
TheBat and not bidirectional).

If nothing like this exists, which I'm afraid is probably the case, may I ask
how you guys synchronise your contacts with cellphones, webmail or other mobile
devices? Or do most TheBat users just miss out on something that is absolutely
standard for Outlook/Thunderbird/Gmail users?

RunaLDAPserver in your organization or at home
(http://www.brennan.id.au/20-Shared_Address_Book_LDAP.html), or buy LDAP service
from 3rd party. This was invented like 10 years ago. And I still
cannot believe nobody heard of it.

Do I see well that OpenLDAP is for Linux? I think that is a problem
for most of us.

You can find LDAP servers for Windows too.

We are missing out. Of course, you could go through the heaps and
loops of installing LDAP as Vilus suggests, but it us far from the
ease-of-use of competing programs.
