OK, that makes sense. A QR-code as another way to transfer for example an
address to your mobile phone. Thinking of that, makes this quite a fancy
feature.

agree, WR is generated, but handling is very limited, image can not be
copied to clipboard, printed or saved to file, current implementation is
very limited.

Make a screendump to the clipboard, start your favourite graphics
program, and crop the QR-code, now you can save it. There should have
been a more sensible way to do that.

Yep

Code reading, with a QR barcode reader or a camera phone:

for it.

SC> The other file is one level up in C:\Users\Stuart\AppData\Roaming

Switch Stuart for Roelof and that's where I found one on my system.

The first entry in the second log is dated 20-3-2008 0:04:18 (v4.0.18)
and the receipt for this computer says 19-3-2008, so I guess it has

Neither have I. Upon checking the contents of that file, most errors
appear to be linked to starting of closing TB, so they're logged
before TB found its mail directory or upon closing when TB has
forgotten about its mail directory. (Just a guess.)

Confirmed for texts that are too long, doesn't matter whether you're
using PTV or RTV.

Small amounts of texts cause no problem.
I guess there's a maximum of info that can be stored in a QR thingie.

No problems after exiting. URL and other hints sometimes stay on
screen after TB in minimized. No AVs since .130. Progress is being
made on all fronts.

Other existing problems for me:
1) where filtered messages that are to be marked as read they are
moved but no marked as read
2) When opening the address book, the cursor is on "search results"
rather than "personal address book" as in the past.
3) The [Next], [Follow], [Delete & Next] and [Delete & Follow] icons

Here when I open TB the split between the account list and the message list is
always 1/2 inch too far to the right. I always move it back again, but when I
restart it is always out of position.

Confirmed.
Only works for plain text viewer when a message is read via folder view.
In prevciew it doesn't matter what viewer is selected, then QR generator
doesn't work at all.

I don't have a running TB! after exiting and I don't see any exception
on exiting either. But I still have a moving splitter between message
tree and message (see attached image, left is how TB shows up and
right is how TB looked like before exiting).

There isn't a copy of thebat.exe running here after closing the
program. But TB! shuts down with an error sound. I can see this
behaviour for a couple of versions now. IIRC since version .12x.

For starters.

Or http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=77657

"Send a message -> Store message in Sent Mail" ???

"Delete a message from a folder -> Remove that label from the message" ??

These are serious flaws.

this is it! thebat.exe stays in taskmanager when I close it, process has
50% CPU and I must terminate it manually.

When I checked this without terminating from taskmanager, 3 processes were
running.

Well, Gmail's IMAP is made very well from what I see, actually. It has
its own quirks, but I would not call them bugs. What do you mean by
bugs, specifically.

VŠ> I think Ritlabs should try to improve IMAP for standard servers

The most "standard" server is UW-IMAP, developed by Mark Crispin and
we have it running on our *nix server and test against it on regular basis.

I monitor any changes of thebat_exceptions.log and ex_log.txt with a
special program. So I usually don't miss a thing. This is especially
helpful for The Bat's shutdown process when it has already closed its
windows but can't display error messages anymore.

That's the program I use:

For what it's worth I must note, that Gmail's IMAP implementation is very

I think Ritlabs should try to improve IMAP for standard servers first, and then

IMAP : The Bat! does not disable [Gmail] group in GMAIL account

2011-01-18 Thread Marek Mikus
Hello,
when You set IMAP GMAIL account, its subfolders are placed in group
[Gmail], but this is not mailbox, it is empty group only.

When You open IMAP Folders Manager in TB, it displays this group greyed,
group can not be marked and set for subscription, this is correct.

But in account tree, [Gmail] is displayed as regular remote IMAP folder,
TB checks it with following error

"IMAP - Unknown Mailbox: [Gmail] (now in authenticated state) (Failure)"

and even copying/moving messages to this non-existing mailbox is allowed,
but they are not copied/moved with no error, TB just do nothing.

Please disable this folder in account tree and its checking on server.

imap unread counters not updated

2011-01-18 Thread Roelof Otten
Hallo tbbeta,

Moved a new unread message from the inbox of an imap account to
another folder, afterwards the account kept telling me that there
still was one unread message, though all folders had zero unread
  messages.
Had to shut down and restart TB in order to update the unread
  counter.
