Thanks for this.

However, the fill in question is hunsp32.dll

When that file is in the directory, the following happens.

When you open the message editor (on the official release) select spell 
checker, select options, hunspell does not operate, it is greyed out.
When you open the message editor (current beta) the program locks up and crashes

Remove hunsp32.dll.  and everything works.

Sorry a typo. I sent you all.

I found that i cant even use other german hunspell dict like the
extracted .aff and .dic files from
https://extensions.libreoffice.org/extensions/german-de-de-frami-dictionaries/2017-01-12/@@download/file/dict-de_DE-frami_2017-01-12.oxt
when renamed to de_DE_neu.aff and de_DE_neu.dic
Same crash with Hunspell.

I can confirm this problem.  If you remove hunspell32.dll from the directory, 
everything works fine.

Start The Bat!
The Bat! Options → Preferences → Viewer/Editor 
Set default Editor for text to "HTML only"
Close Settings
Open message Template editor 
Select New Message
In template change the Spellchecker → Language → German (New)
Close Template editor
Close The Bat!
Start The Bat!
Create New Message
Crash

No crash in The Bat! 7.4.16!
