Re: On-the-fly-encryption

2005-05-07 Thread MAU
Hello Peter,

MM If You install it for the first time, select On-The-Fly encryption in
MM first dialog, which will appear.

Well, yes, but install from which file? I installed from 3.1.33.msi,
but as you stated, there is no such option.

I have found this in case it helps:

Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Date: Thu, 11 Nov 2004 12:12:33 -0600 (CST)
From: Allie Martin

,- [ ]
| Would someone mind explaining the procedure for enabling 'On The Fly
| Encryption' with this latest TB Pro Beta 3.0.2.7?
|
| - Backup TB! using the TB! backup.
|
| - Backup TB! by exporting the registry key to file and Backing up the
| installation directory and mail directories. This is the failsafe in
| case the TB! backup fails you.
|
| - Unistall TB! completely.
|
| - Reinstall TB! using one of the MSI installers and then overwrite the
| TB! executable with the new beta, i.e., v3.0.2.7. *DO NOT* run the new
| installation prior to overwriting the executable with the new beta.
|
| - When the new beta runs, it will ask if you wish to use on the fly
| encryption. Choose that. You can then go on to restore from backup
| rather than creating fresh accounts.
|
|
| If you wish to keep your current installation going and try this on the
| fly encryption, you can create a parallel installation that uses its own
| registry branch.
|
| - Copy your installation directory to another folder.
|
| - Overwrite the TB! executable in that new folder with the current beta
| executable
|
| - Create a shortcut to the new executable and then go in the properties
| of the shortcut. To the executable path, add the reg: parameter so
| that it's like this.
| C:/Program Files/new folder/thebat.exe /reg:Beta
| This will lead to the building of a new registry branch on execution.
|
| - Run TB! using that shortcut and you'll be prompted for using on the
| fly encryption etc.

Re: Colour groups and icons in RC4

2005-05-07 Thread MAU
Hello Michael,

in addition to the already reported problems I found that colour group
assignment does not work any more on my PC.

No problem here, and I use them quite a lot.

Furthermore, I still have three extremely ugly icons in the main menu
bar. These icons are the address book icon, printer icon and recycle
bin icon. These icons show a lot of steps in the outer border
combined with white pixels. Looks like I've drawn these icons
freehand. This does not look very professional and should be fixed for
 the release version.

Now that I am learning a bit about PNG format, it may be a problem of
the alpha channel. I'll make some tests when I have some time.

RC5: Can't set Priority from Status bar

2005-05-08 Thread MAU
Hello all,

I don't send many High Priority messages and, when I do, I usually
select this by clicking on the Status bar icon at the bottom of the Edit
window. My surprise today was when I tried this and instead of changing
the icon, I got the menu that should come up with a right click. But
this is not all, please see attached PNG. The menu shows High Priority
as selected and it isn't as the icon shows. But this is not all,
clicking again on the High Priority menu entry does nothing. So, the
only way to select High Priority is to select Options/High priority from
the to menu, or on the lower menu (which should not appear with a left
click) select Normal or Low and then High.

Can anybody confirm?

RC5: AVs when editing View Modes

2005-05-10 Thread MAU
Hello all,

I've been running RC5 for 3 days for my normal work quite smoothly, but
just now I had some AVs.

I wanted to add a Filter to one of my view modes but, after making the
change, I decided not to do so and hit Cancel. When doing this I got
this AV:

---
The Bat!
---
Access violation at address B853531E. Read of address B853531E.
---
OK
---

After OKing this I clicked Cancel on the Prefernces window and then I
got this one:

---
The Bat!
---
Access violation at address 0034. Read of address 0034.
---
OK
---

OKing this would just lead a new AV with same values and this endlessly
repeated until I killed TB with Task Manager.

After re-starting TB I can't reproduce the AVs.

Hello Liz,

the specials menu, create filter still doesnt work

Works fine here.

the Main menu (Menu bar version) short cuts, dont match up with the
right click shortcuts, and only the right click shortcuts work, eg,
main menu says ctrl+F5 for reply, right click says ctrl+enter,
ctrl+enter works, of course, inside a message its ctrl+r .. it would
be amazingly nice if these were all the same. (I like ctrl+r myself)

There must be a reason why the shortcuts are different. Anyway, you say
that only the right click shortcuts work. If this means that Ctrl+F%
doesn't work for you, it works fine here.

Sort order for my view has been changed from received to by name, grr,
 hate that.

should also not pop-up using LMB?

It is not _my_ logic. It is quite standard to get context menus with
right clicks and not left ones. Aside of that, at least until 3.0.2.10
(which I have just verified), there were no left click context menus in
any part of the editor status bar. And... a left click on the priority
icon cycles through the three possible priorities.

Re: Bug(?) View mode: Group by date

2005-05-10 Thread MAU
Hello Peter,

It all works well, except I would expect that the group Last year
would be the topmost and the Today group at the bottom. But it is the
other way around. Internally in the Today group, the oldest thread is
correctly topmost and the newest is at the bottom.

Confirm. And, as I always sort on descending order, I would also prefer
that Today was the group at the bottom. It seems as a contradiction to
sort the groups and the contents of each group differently.

Re: Rc3-4-5-6-7 same problem for me

2005-05-11 Thread MAU
Hello Jan,

Can someone work on this with me so I can get up running again with
the newer betas. I'm back to v10 as it is the most stable for me.

I've read you don't have a batskin.xml file anywhere.

Try this:
- If you are using any Theme, set to default and/or try different
themes.
- Remove any *.PNG file you may have in your The Bat! directory.
- If you have done/tried any customisation, remove any tbuser.def you
may have in your The Bat! or MAIL directories.
- Remove any other *.def files from your The Bat! directory.

Do it step by step and see if they make any difference.

Re: 3.5RC7 new-/non-/fixed issues

Hello George,

Maybe it is the way it should be and was wrong in the past. You can
create new folders in Folder menu, new messages in Message menu and new
accounts in Account menu. Seems quite logical to me.

On the other hand with a single click you can compose a message to a specific
person/list/whatever. It is more easy to right click on a folder and select
New Message that will use folder's template than click on the folder and
then click new. Maybe the New account is not very useful but the New
 Message surely is.

Sorry, I misread your first message. You were referring to the folder
_popup_ menu (context menu when right clicking on a folder) and I
understood you were referring the the Folder menu.

VF is to be able to see as threads messages that may be scattered in
these different 4 folders.

Well, today I noticed that neither marking a message as read nor
deleting it does update/refresh the VF. Only a manual refresh will do.

RC8: VFs not auto-refreshing

Now the surprise. When I just installed RC8 again, VFs seem to be

Re: Still getting No message loaded

2005-05-12 Thread MAU
Hello Chris,

It's View Mode dependent. Would post offending mode if I knew how. It
works OK with No View Mode selected.

Well, you can open the View Mode Setup dialog and describe it the best
way you can the settings in it.

Here's a screenshot of the offending settings

I have set up a view mode as close to yours as possible and still can't
confirm the problem you have.

Now, why do I say that my view mode is as close to yours as possible?
Look at the the 2 PNGs attached:

In your view mode the tick box under 'Sort by' says Ascending order
while in mine it says Descending order. How can this be? Shouldn't
this be the same for everyone?
