Re: 5.0.22.12 - EImapUnexpectedSocketClosedNoError
Hello Maxim, The Bat! version 5.0.26.14 will give meaningful messages about IMAP disconnects, so you will be able to figure out the problem. Previous versions did simply give Connection unexpectedly closed on all errors, without giving the explanation or details of the error. I suggest you to enable protocol logging in the account properties. This will be eating some disk space, but you will be able to see why the connections are broken. Well, it appears that the unexpected close is in another account - not my main one. As I said, I have loads of accounts and was hoping the log would show which account the exception was in. RTT Unfortunately the help doesn't tell you anything about it (but to my RTT surprise there is a help topic for that preference tab). And that setting is also used to decide what to select and what not. RTT I'm pretty sure that change was introduced with 5.x and I for one RTT didn't ask for it. I find it annoying. IMHO, TB having this setting is a bug by itself. I often get e-mails that have deeply nested quotes, and I also often get e-mails that have the character in the middle of text, like this line. This line is obviously not a quote, but try getting The Bat to recognize this, while keeping it recognising the following line as a deeply nested quote: some text, 5 levels deep If nothing else, The Bat should have a setting to only recognize a line as a quote if it starts with the following regexp: ^[ ]+ -- Jernej Simončič http://eternallybored.org/ [ The Bat! 5.0.22.12 (ALPHA) on Windows 7 6.1.7601.Service Pack 1 ] The simple explanation always follows the complex solution. -- Rule of Scientific Endeavor Current beta is 5.0.22.13 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: 5.0.22.12 - Filtering problems. An observation.
Hello Maxim, The Bat! 5.0.22.12 (ALPHA) is available at http://www.ritlabs.com/download/files3/the_bat/a-5/tb502212.rar I suspect that one of the reasons for filtering being to very slow is that TB logs in out for each filtered message. Monday, August 29, 2011, 8:28:39 AM, Krzysztof wrote: So add it to your address book ok, let's put it clear: previous (alpha) versions of TB! didn't cause this alert of 'untrusted' certificate rant First, let me say that the reason I have stopped using The Bat! is because of all the communications problems I have, especially its' useless handling of self-signed certificates. It now has a decent implementation of IMAP, but SSL is not even half way to working as far as I am concerned. I get disconnections, reconnections, warning dialogues that disappear before I can read them, useless warnings in the logs, i.e. it's a mess. When you cannot trust your mail client to receive mails, you don't really have a mail client. I followed all the instructions, adding certificates, CA certificate, even went as far as adding the private certificate to the address book, all to no avail. I always get the same behaviour. This is one area where work is needed to bring The Bat! up to scratch. I cannot think of any other mail client that has these problems and I have evaluated many. AFAIAC Evolution is the best ever mail client, but I have to use Windows for my customers. The second best should be The Bat!, except that the communications errors drive me mad, so I have to go for something that is far inferior to The Bat!, but I know I will receive my mails in a timely fashion. /rant Going back into lurk mode -- __ _ Debian GNU User Simon Martin / /(_)_ __ _ ___ __ __ Project Manager / / | | '_ \| | | \ \/ / Milliways / /__| | | | | |_| | mailto:smar...@milliways.cl \/_|_| |_|\__,_/_/\_\ Si Hoc Legere Scis Nimium Eruditionis Habes Current beta is 5.0.22.12 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
