Counting messages

Hello, For reasons too complicated to explain, I'd like to count the number of messages that I've got selected (100+ so counting by hand is a bit hit and miss, not to mention time consuming). Obviously there's no direct way to do it, but can anyone think of some nice lateral solution? Thanks,

The %- macro is documented in the help file, though it's easy to overlook as it's listed as a dash and it's the first macro in the alphabetical listing. I follow up all macros that don't leave any results in the message text with the %- macro, it makes reading a template easier as each
