downloading from multiple mailboxes at once

2003-01-30 Thread achdut
Is it possible to download from more than one mailbox at a time by
using only one download command?

My cable ISP allows up to 6 mailboxes. Until now, I have been using a
single box through a different provider. I intend to maintain the same
folders/filtering system currently in place, but would like to set up
3 mailboxes as my spam solution: 1 box for personal mail[let's call it
asacks, 1 for e-mail lists [let's call it achdut], and 1 for
online purchases [let's call it buymail]. However, it would be a
pain if I had to download 3 separate times in order to pick up all of
my mail. Can The Bat be configured so that all mail sent to each of
the 3 accounts provided by the same cable provider can be downloaded
with one command?

Thanks

I solved this one. The problem was that I had recently added more
email addresses to my address book and I had copied one of the
addresses down without the @ sign. I think it would be good if the
Bat! could give an error message saying pointing out which recipient
of my mailout was causing me problems. Instead I had to scan through
over 1000 email addresses before I found the offending address. And
that was only a hunch that this could have been the problem.
Perhaps technical could do something about that when they update the

Addresses don't need a @ to be valid. The @ is only needed to tell at
which server the owner of that address can be found. When the intended
recipient is located at the same server as you, there is no technical
reason whatsoever to use the @domain.tld after the username.
You have to admit that it's a bit difficult to identify for you which
addresses are at the same server as you and which aren't.

I don't think redirection really has anything to do with this.

If I (as the spammer) send out a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and I
find that someone followed through with a url click that verified the
existence an activity at that address, then anything else that I send
to [EMAIL PROTECTED] will also get to you. Doesn't matter how many
levels of indirection have taken place in between - it's the same path
both times.

The encoded url just serves to put a flag in the database that
validates the starting point for your email address.

You are right. A bit cumbersome but try highlighting just one address

Right again. TB's editor is a plain text one and only uses fixed with
fonts. Therefore, it doesn't display any proportional fonts as an
option.

Daniel,

This isn't freeware but there is a 14 day evaluation full working copy
available to try: it's called SoftWriting and is downloadable from

Fake 'new messages detected' message

2003-01-30 Thread chinchi
Hi,
I don't know why TB started giving a message in the status and in
the log that says '58 new messages detected' and each time says
'connection finished, no messages retrived'. There aren't any new
messages in reality. I've checked via webmail as well as using the
message dispatcher. Why am I getting this and how do I get rid of
it? It strted a few minutes ago only, before it was fine. I have
tried even rebooting windows but no use.

Simple - create a manual filter with the action Add address to
address book and select All To + CC + BCC. Then execute the
filter on the message containing the addresses you want to add.

No, simple is something else. I agree with Bill that it should be
possible to add the whole TO or CC list to the addressbook. I have
just created a new AB and most of the new contacts I wanted to add
where in one mail's TO header. Oh, I thought, how neat, one click and
I'm done. No siree. So I looked for individual mails from each of
these people and added sender's address to AB manually.

Creating a filter for one-time use for something which I expected to
be available in the context menu is not what I call simple. ;-)

This is great, but how can you apply a filter to just one message?
I have a feeling this is an easy one...

Make it manual and assign it a hotkey. Press the hotkey. #TaDa#.
 Magic!

Marck, or any filter guru, I'm still having trouble with this. How can I
have a filter take care of this without having it move the message?
There's no option to just leave the message where it is.

Any filter that specifies source and destination as Inbox should not
move a processed message.

As an example, I tried running the manual filter on one of the messages
here in my Bat folder. I have Inbox selected as source and destination.
It moved it to my Inbox..as it should have. I set the source and
destination both to my Bat folder, didn't do anything. It's a read
filter if that makes a difference. I would think not since it's read
messages I'm trying to get the addresses from.

Setting column widths in messages pane for multiple folders

2003-01-30 Thread David McIver
Hello,

Is there a way to select the columns displayed and set their width
in more than one folder at once? I have been able to select the
columns displayed and set their width in single folders by
right-clicking on the column headings, but have not been able to
find a way to do this for more than one column at once.

Thanks,
David

In folder - properties - general check Use the account default column
settings. All folders with this box checked will have the same settings,
and any change to one of them will apply to all others as well.
