I use 4.0.38, which has only the two modes. I have never seen 
"web-like" mode, and before this thread never heard of it.

I use "Simple" and the buttons on the right are Start, Stop, Help,
Close, Locate Original, Virtual Folder, Advanced. If I click
"Advanced" that button changes to "Simple," the top part of the
interface where you enter search criteria changes, and the "Advanced"
tab disappears.

Thanks for the tip. I have not used AOL for more than 15 years.
However, I will download and install Malwarebytes as you recommend.
