Re: Splitting files with WinRAR[Re[5]: Out of memory trying to attach 9 megabyte ZIP file]
This is interesting. I have WinRAR but I couldn't find the command for splitting file. How can it be done? I would really appreciate your explanation because I would like to split TB on two floppies since this version is the first that is bigger then 1.44MB;) *grin* wasn't going to say anything, but since I do have the answer to your question, I'll also point out that this isn't the first version to go over the 1.38MB (1440kb) limit. ;-) I think that 1.35 did it. To split a file: Open up WinRar, and select the file you want to split. Select Commands-Add files to Archive (Alt-A) There is a drop-down box called "Volume size, in bytes". Use that to determine the size of your volumes. (Ie/ 362400, WinRar will compress your file and split the archive into 362400 byte chunks.) Personally, I fully recommend WinAce. ;-) Take care. :-) - M. -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, click below and send the generated message. mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] --

Re[3]: Filtering mail arriving with a given bcc insertion to a given mail directory
On 07 November 1999 at 17:03, [EMAIL PROTECTED] told the list: RB If "certain accounts" means accounts within your installation of RB TB!, then why don't you just create a filter for outgoing mail RB and copy the desired outgoing messages to the desired folder? RB Ralf. DH That is exactly what what I want to do. If that is possible, your DH suggestion implies that I can filter by specifying the bcc of DH *outgoing* (not incoming) mail. DH However, I just tried and the locations given for the string to filter DH do *not* include bcc, even for the outgoing mail filters. If you know DH of a way to do this, please advise. Filters on "Recipient" pick up BCC addresses in outgoing mail. I just tested this and it worked perfectly. "Recipient" means any address in To:, CC: and BCC:. HTH Cheers, Marck -- Marck D. Hi Ali, Actually the option says, "Delete *received* messages from server", which would imply that, if checked, only downloaded messages and not the large message that was not downloaded will be deleted from the server. This is what I thought too, but it does indeed delete the big message from the server. Does TB! announce/indicate whenever it leaves messages on the server because of their size? I hope this is what they will have it do in the future. If you accelerate it, you can sweep all over the screen by just moving your thumb, without lifting it off the ball, while the index and middle fingers are already on the left and right mouse keys, with a programmable middle key (which I use for double clicking with just one click). They also make a laptop version but I haven't tried it (I will on getting a laptop), that can be clipped to the side of the laptop, I believe. Re[2]: Filtering mail arriving with a given bcc insertion to a givenmail directory
Hello Marck, Sunday, November 07, 1999, 2:32:43 PM, you wrote: MDP Filters on "Recipient" pick up BCC addresses in outgoing mail. I just MDP tested this and it worked perfectly. "Recipient" means any address in MDP To:, CC: and BCC:. Perfect, that does it! Thanks a bunch. DH Hello Ralf, Sunday, November 07, 1999, 1:29:07 PM, you wrote in response to my saying: I just tried and the locations given for the string to filter do *not* include bcc, even for the outgoing mail filters. If you know of a way to do this, please advise. RB Easy, just filter "BCC: [EMAIL PROTECTED]" in Kludges :-). I tried both solutions using different accounts and both work perfectly. (And neither affect incoming mail, nor do the messages have to be saved in order for the filter to take effect). RB However, as you now already copy the message to a folder locally RB when it is sent, you may want to get rid of the BCC to avoid RB having two copies of that message. I agree with you in terms of disk space economy. However, the bcc's from all accounts I use this on come back to my main account, and I don't want to look for them in the sent box of each and every account. However, this solution is redundant in that I now have the message in three places: The sent box of each account, the "self bcc" box I made for the filters, and the account itself. The advantage of the "self bcc" is that I don't have to look for these messages among the rest of what comes in, a good part of which doesn't get read. Perhaps the best solution then would be a filter on the sender, so that my own things from each account are together in the "self bcc" folder, with no bcc at all. RB I'd suggest, then, that you use the %RETURNPATH macro for new RB messages that you want to have a copy of. Put in your own e-mail RB address here and filter "Return-Path: [EMAIL PROTECTED]" in RB Kludges. Note, the "" and "" signs will be inserted by TB!. RB Ralf. How would this work (what effect would it have)? Does this mean that replies would come to that address? Would this be different that filtering the sender? It would be more selective, since I would have to enable it, or are there active rather than manual macros) but the reason for the automated bcc is that I forget to do this sometimes and I'd rather delete one I don't need than than go looking for one I do. I think I am going to leave the bcc rule (one of them), since I do want another copy (the one that comes back to the inbox), to put in one of the various *issues* folders. A question: The "Agent" program referred to in other posts: This is a Newsreader? For what OS's? This is really an excellent group. Cyrillics showing up in web browser???
Here's an interesting one. I use Opera for most of Web browsing, but it had started to have some real performance problems, being really slow to re-display. After enduring this for awhile and trying all the usual solutions to no avail, I noticed that on a page with which Opera was having problems - simple HTML page - certain headings were displaying with cyrillic letters. I had had this happening for awhile, but hadn't paid attention to it. When I inspected the source code for this page, I found that it was specifying Verdana and I didn't have Verdana installed. For headings set for font size 4 (not 2), the cyrillic letters would be pop up, instead of the alternate font. I installed Verdana and the page displayed correctly and Opera's performance problems have gone away. What does this have to do with TB? Maybe nothing, but I got the following in a reply to my posting the problem to an O news group: "I've seen something with some points of similarity. A program compiled with Delphi 3 caused my system to substitute weird characters in some specific point sizes of the Arial font. Research on the 'net indicated that it wasn't just my system; other users were reporting similar things. When the programs author upgraded to Delphi 4 the problem went away. Since Opera isn't done in Delphi, that's probably not directly related. OTOH, if you're running some other software compiled with Delphi 3 or earlier it could have caused the problem, and it just became visible when Opera tried to use the font." Last I remember from this list, TB is compiled is some early version of Delphi, no? What particularly intrigues me is that the font that was displaying on the Web pages, instead of Verdana, is nowhere on my system that I can see - emphasize the latter - but was cyrillic! Is there possibly some connection here between TB and what was happeninig with Opera? -- Paula Ford The Bat! 1.35 (reg) Windows 95 4.0 Build 950 -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, click below and send the generated message. mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] --
