Archiving
Does TB get upset if an existing folder is moved to a different location? What I'm thinking about is to create an Archive folder containing old stuff which I can then put somewhere else to stop TB from using it. And perhaps bring it back whenever required? Though I'm asking I suspect the answer is that this ain't possible. So what about exporting the contents of the folder, to re-import it again should it be needed? I've looked at Mailbag Assistant but don't like it... Regards, Günter mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! No, it creates a new messages.tbb and messages.tbi file. Both empty files, since TB can't recover any messages. On copying the messages.tb? files back (take care that TB is closed when you're doing this, just in case) TB will happily access the new messagebase. -- Groetjes, Roelof Current version is 1.62r | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Unhelpful, impolite, and not welcome on this list. And, if you had read the thread you would have noted that dZ was a long standing Eudora user. Well, thank you all for your wonderful help and insightful comments. If you must know, yes, I was trying to set the quoting prefix for one of my accounts to '::', the account I use to communicate with friends, family and other personal acquaintances. I didn't realize that by mistake it had affected also the template settings of the folder where I keep my TBUDL messages. I sent the single short message not thinking it would cause any problem (2 lines!) and was expecting to fix it afterwards. How wrong was I! To commit such mortal sin! :( The Bat! is a great program; very powerful and feature-rich, but it is sometimes confusing and overwhelming to the uninitiated. Most of this confusion is due to the developer's philosophy and power users' expectations which define the product. But alas! not everyone comes to understand these at first sight. And this has little to do with using colorish blinking fluffy 'email' with pictures and sounds in it or the want for it. I for one have been a power user of Eudora for many years and have even used vi as my text editor when composing mail in command shell UNIX, yet still managed to send a message with the wrong quoting prefix. :( I'm sure that whatever extensive knowledge of TB and appreciation of its mind-set some of you may have has come at the price of time and experience. There are better ways to foster TB!'s functional philosophy without having to resort to personal attacks and insults. And in the end, this does not help anybody. I apologize for my mistake and hope that in the future you can tolerate a bit more a TB!-newbie's transgression. After all, no matter what fluffy email he might have sent in the past, he shed it all now for The Bat!, no? :) -dZ.
