Choosing wrong template when the address is also in a address group

2004-03-12 Thread Edgar van Dijk
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hello All,

I have the following:

A address [EMAIL PROTECTED] that is in a address group (XLT)
For this group I use a group template to start a new mail.

But when I want to mail John seperately (not using the Group)
and enter the address in a new mail it will still use the group
template and not the general template of the account.

This behaviour is common with all mail addresses that are in a
group with a group template and also are being used outside of
this group.

How can I resolve this?

The only way I've found is to create the address twice.
One within the group and one in my general address book.

 Edgar

This planet has -- or rather had -- a problem, which was this:
most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of
the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but
most of these were largely concerned with the movements of small
green pieces of paper, which is odd because on the whole it
wasn't the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy.

Sorry I wasn't clear. The mixup only occurs in TB! -- I was just
pointing out that incoming messages are shown in Inbox in Thunderbird,
and in Sent in TB!, but when I move them into TB!'s inbox they seem to
disappear from the IMAP server (according to Thunderbird, at least).

I can't rule out the IMAP server being (partly) at fault, but I've tried
out a few different e-mail clients with it and none of them (except for
TB!) have had any problems with it. Guess I'll delete/re-create the
account and see how it goes. I can't bear the idea of going back to POP3
for that account (I check my e-mail at several different computers and
occasionally on my cell-phone), so hopefully I won't have to give up on TB!

Some Messages Have Blank Fields

2004-03-12 Thread Steve Mulhall
Hi all,

I've noticed something a little strange that happens from time to
time. Occasionally an e-mail will arrive in an Inbox that has all its
details as blank i.e. Blank From: field, blank To: field, blank
Subject etc, you get the idea. Essentially everything is blank.
Quite often the message body actually contains the relevant e-mail and
sometimes it just contains what appears to be fairly random strings of
ASCII code. This is not account specific and indeed I cannot seem to
isolate any pattern to when they arrive.

I always check on my mail server when this happens and these e-mails do not
appear there so I presume that TB! is generating them for some reason.

Anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks

I have had TB choke on incoming emails lately, that appear to be
totally blank- no subject/From/To fields populated. The mail dispatcher
sits on that email and fails. I have to manually go to dispatcher, new
mail, UNCHECK the receive field ( so it deletes that message) then run
dispatcher. the rest of my mails flows to TB and all is well.
When I have used the web interface to look at those messages, they
obviously have SOME headers, but not much, I consider it SPAM, so I
normally don't bother, except to delete them, and keep on truckin.

Recipient's address book-Full name in the To: field

2004-03-12 Thread Jacopo Ognibene

 Hi Bats!

I want to set a template that modify the To: field using the
original address book recipient's name (if existing, of course).

 For example:
the address book entry is: Tom Jones [EMAIL PROTECTED]

 That's what I want:
The to: field must be set *the same* as in the address book (I
mean the display name), even if I write only the email address
([EMAIL PROTECTED]) or the Last Name (Jones).

So, first i write [EMAIL PROTECTED], then, when tabbing to the
body, the TO: field is set to Tom Jones [EMAIL PROTECTED].

 Is it possible?
I tried with the followiong macro in the template, but it doesn't
 work as I need:

%TO='%ABTONAME=%TOADDR' the result is [EMAIL PROTECTED], Tom Jones.

 Cheers
 Jacopo

No, it wouldn't.

You need something more like this:

 %TO=%TO=_%ABTONAME='%TONAME'%TOADDR_

First you should clear the current entry - the TO field is
cumulative. Then you want to use the real name from the address book
or the original real name if there is none. You want to wrap that in
quotes in case of any special characters in the name fields. Finally
you need to bolt back in the target address.

 Well, I tried.
But, if I clear the entry with %TO= , please note that the result I
 get back is:

That's because, I think, the to: field is empty, so the 2nd part of

If I do not empty the field with %TO= , I get back what I need but

I also use SpamPal with the Bayesian and URLBody plugins. Out of
curiosity, I switched to the BayesIT plugin for awhile (2 months). It
took about a week or so before it was trained sufficiently to detect
spam. After another couple of weeks it was successfully intercepting
most of the spam with no false positives. Every so often polling for
mail would hang but temporarily disabling BayesIT would resolve the
problem, so I think there was a definite correlation. It was
convenient not having to run another relay like SpamPal, as everything
was almost self contained with The Bat!/BayesIT combo. In spite of
this advantage, I still went back to SpamPal. I think SpamPal's
additional advantage of using DNSBL public blacklists makes the
difference between catching most of the spam vs all of the spam. I've
never had any false positives with SpamPal either. For me, SpamPal
seems to be a more thorough solution.

Dear Peter,

[PO] in mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] said to Marck:

PO mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] you
(like the made up ID? g)

MDP It will require a Regex to extract the date from the topmost
MDP Received header.

PO Why Regex, what's wrong with using something like:

PO Received : %ORCVDATE=-mm-dd

Nothing - as long as I recall (or knew in the first place) the
RCVDATE macro existed g! In fact, it works, whereas my original
suggestion was complete pooh (sorry Anne).

Hi Allie,

wrote in mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:

AM That's the address encryption working.

I find the mid:; info useful when reading replies, but the gmane
encryption breaks the sigs. It will be interesting to see how others
handle this. I always liked this feature in The Bat.

I suppose that I could use pgp/mime like you have here and then the
gmane message wouldn't display the broken pgp signature. BTW, I
thought that pgp/mime was only allowed in the TBBeta Yahoo Group. Has
this changed?
