yeah that would be nice, it would have made me convert some people to TB! This
and HTML mail as standard when you start a new mail. Each time I show collegues
TB! (am the only one using that at work) that's one of the first things that
makes them go away.

I don't think you can download images directly into the message pane,

As pointed out by Chris, that won't work. RegEdit always loads the "live"
system's registry.

However, you can load registry hives from a dead system into the live
system, this article describes how:

I do not need to tell you to make a backup first, do I? :-)

I shouldn't need it, like I said, I purchased a new license since the
pricing came out the same with the 30% off. If it gets him through
this problem, I'm happy to help.

V2 didn't use the password scheme I believe, and V3 uses a Key Block
to register it.

Myself, I keep a .txt file with all my registration information in it for
EVERY program that I register. I even keep the old versions cause you
never know when you'll need it.

Keep going. After about 500 spams you'll have enough data in the
dictionaries to start getting some measure of accuracy.

It is the score for now. Once the dictionaries have more data you'll
get better results.

Trying to understand Bayesit

2005-02-04 Thread BJH
Hi all

I've been trying out Bayesit now found a few days and I'm struggling to
come to terms with how this plug-in is *supposed* to work.

It seems to me that in simple terms the plugin assigns a 'score' to each
email, and dependent on the score allocated TB determines what ultimately
happens to that email.

I've been 'training' or at least telling TB what is junk over the last few
days. Currently 107 spam mails against 170 genuine.

I've had a look at the bayesit log file and it seems to me that the score
applied to every mail that has come in is 1! If this is the correct line:

Value for The Bat!: 1

If it isn't then I would like to understand the log file more; if it is the
score then what's going on?

Does anyone know of anything that explains the function of Bayesit in a
little more depth? Cos I'm sure that the reason it doesn't appear to be
working for me is a lack of understanding on my part.

Hi David,

This ia a long shot but I bought my copy via a local reseller and he used my
Postal Code as password as default for all the purchases.
Could something similar have happened to you or did you personally enter the PW?

If you entered it yourself, I believe there is no maximum number of tries and I
would suggest you just enter the most likely 50 options for a PW you can thing
of. I find myself using only a couple of different PW anyway.

And a last suggestion. I have added a note to the serial number email with my

That sounds like a registry entry from a system user where The Bat!
had been run but never had the registration applied. It may yet be in
the "Users" hive of the registry under your own user login. Is it
worth repeating the exercise and looking there? (and, should you find
the entry there and it contains the SoftwareRegistrationId key go
ahead with the export / import procedure).
