Lost mail, index corrupted: extract msgs from data file?
Hi Batters, Is there a way to retrieve (individual) messages from a message base? The message base itself is hopefully OK, only the index seems to be corrupted - after a repair the last month of mail is gone... This user's TB is giving me headaches almost weekly! I've already scheduled a daily copy of her complete message base, just to make sure only one day is lost (msgs kept on the server for 7 days). this time however I'm afraid I can't repair... -- Happy flappin'! The Bat and GTD
Is anyone out there using TB as a part of GTD* (Getting Things Done)? *GTD is a personal organisation system promoted by David Allen. If you don't know what I mean then you are probably not able to discuss this with me. I am seeking GTDers using TB to exchange ideas as to how to integrate TB with the system rather than use MS Outlook. -- Marten Gallagher Annery Kiln Web Design www.annerykiln.co.uk Using The Bat! 3.5.25 with POPFile 0.22.1 on Windows XP 5.1 Current version is 3.60.7 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Close TB and delete the messages.tbi file belonging to the corrupt folder. Restart TB and the missing .tbi should be created by TB. Another option would be to make a copy of the messages.tbb file, rename it to .uue and open it with WinZip (WinRar won't be fooled, but WinZip 8.0 gave me good results with non corrupted .tbb files) The contents will be displayed as a series of text files and the attachments will be shown as separate files. -- Groetjes, Roelof Imagination is more important than knowledge. - Albert Einstein The Bat! 3.61.13 Echo (Beta) Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 1 pop3 account, server on LAN OTFE enabled P4 3GHz 2 GB RAM pgppKoULRM2Pq.pgp Description: PGP signature Current version is 3.60.7 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

PGP-encrypted message containing just url appears empty when decrypted from within TB!
Hi If a PGP-encrypted message contains no text apart from a URL, decrypting it by pressing the button in the preview pane shows a completely blank message body. Decrypting using PGP's current window - decrypt/verify function reveals the true contents, that is the URL. Referring to PGP Inline, not MIME. The URL has to begin with something like http://; (or indeed ftp://;, nttp://, file:///) for this to occur. -- Best regards, MFPA Free advice costs nothing until you act upon it Using The Bat! v3.0.1.33 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 1 Current version is 3.60.7 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

E-mail can be managed whatever program you use. My use of GTD in TheBat is this: Don't keep anything in my Inbox. Instead, put it in the appropriate folder. Create folders for @Action, AWaiting, @Someday. Add ToDo tasks for e-mails in my ToDo system (I use a Palm for this). I don't use Outlook. On the Desktop side, I use Ecco and Bonsai (for tasks). I must admit that I don't always clean out my Inbox entirely.
