Re: Default Mail program under Vista
Hi Scott Sims and list, How can I make The Bat the DEFAULT EMAIL program for Vista? It is still not listed as an option, in Default Programs You can't it is up to the developers to make a programm apper under Default programms.. this is the thing that is bugging me most under vista... I hoped that would be part of the betacycle under the target vista compatibility but it seems not to be in the mindset of the developers right now. autobackup is much more important for them a feature that was there with the task sheduler.. but was kind of hard to configure.. The Bat Is NOT Vista Compatable
Hello, How can The Bat be labeled as Vista Compatible when you CANNOT USE IT AS THE DEFAULT MAIL PROGRAM! This feature needs to be added ASAP, and I do not know why it was not added during the beta testing. Mod: Cut mark (was: The Bat Is NOT Vista Compatable)
Hello Scott, Wednesday, February 28, 2007, 2:58:07 PM, you wrote: Regards, Scott Current version is 3.98 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html moderator Note: This moderator's interjection is a note to all readers and not just to the person being replied to, even if their post may have instigated this reply. Please don't feel singled out Scott. ' Please include a signature delimiter in your messages. This consists of a dashdashspacereturn, i.e., a '-- ' by itself on a line. This allows your readers, when replying, to quote your text without the signature and list footers since everything below and including the sig delimiter is excluded when quoting. You can easily automate this process by including the sig delimiter in your templates. Even if you barely have a signature to speak of, that doesn't make any difference to whether or not you need a cut mark. You are being courteous to other readers since at least three lines of text is added to your signature by the list server. ... and, no, we can't add the cut mark to the list footer on the server because when there are 2 cut marks in a message, only the last is used. So that would penalize those that *do* correctly use a cut mark To find out why these MOD messages are posted to the list instead of private mail, please read the welcome message you received when you subscribed. TBUDL Mission Statement
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Greetings TB Listers, This is your monthly message from the moderation team to remind you of the primary purpose of this discussion list. To review the list rules, follow the link at the end of this message. Before posting a question to the list, please check The Bat! TBUDL Mission statement The TBUDL list has been set up for the purpose of discussing The Bat! and how to use it. It is a community of users ready and able to help new users get to grips with some of the capabilities of this flexible email client. More complex issues are discussed on the TBTECH list (see below for details). Simply send messages to mailto:TBUDL@thebat.dutaint.com to send it to the whole list. See the notes at the end of this message for details about how to manage your list membership or to leave the list. It would probably be a good idea for you to set up a folder to keep TBUDL messages in. If you do this, the next most useful thing to have in place is an automatic filter to move mail from your inbox into your TBUDL folder. Set up a filter for incoming mail which looks for: Header Field [Reply-To] Contains [EMAIL PROTECTED] The Roguemoticon Project It's nice to see your contact's face in the header ... and for them to see yours. That's what roguemoticons are all about. If you wish to add yourself, then you'll need to visit this site http://www.pcwize.com/thebat What this place will do for you is to allow you to create an account, add your image and then let you download a .ZIP file containing all the files you'll need to be able so see people's faces without having to send or receive any real images in any messages. To trigger the roguemoticon display in the message header for anyone reading your message using TB, you have the choice of using the X-Rogue: header or a signature trigger. How to use a signature trigger The image is triggered by a 'Handle' you've defined in your account, and when that Handle appears in a message it gets replaced on the client side by the corresponding image. A handle could look like anything you want it to look like pretty much. For example: :Leif_Gregory: Just add this text to your standard message signature block. How to create the X-Rogue: header You can do that with this macro: %SetHeader('X-Rogue',':your_handle:')%- in your templates for this and other tb-lists. However, the macro alone won't do the trick. TB'll say: 'Hey, that's not any RFC822 header I know about', so you'll have to define it as such: Options .. Preferences .. Messages .. Message headers .. 'Add' Now you'll get a pop-up to define the header Display as: X-Rogue (or whatever, it isn't very important) RFC header: X-Rogue Uncheck: 'This field is an address list' (because it isn't) Check: 'Allow this field to be edited in the message editor' Uncheck: 'Display this field in the scrollable part of the header pane' Now you're done and every TB-user can see your lovable face when they've installed the roguemoticons. For you to see peoples faces: To get this going, you should be running TB! v2.12 or later. Fetch the following file: http://www.pcwize.com/thebat/smileys/rogues.zip Unzip it to the 'Images' directory that's in your TB! installation directory: C:\Program Files\The Bat!\Images You should now have a directory called 'rogues' containing many images as well as the file 'rogues.msl' in your Images directory. Go into the preferences, and bring up the View/Editor options. Now hit Shift-CTRL-Alt-T while TB! is in focus. This will re-fetch TB!'s smiley set from disk and load the new images. Hello MFPA, Was it just me, or did others receive two copies of this message with identical message-id but one had the subject prepended with [TBBETA] [TBUDL] ? No, everybody got it on both lists. It was apparently cause by some 'anti-spam device' used by a list member. Roelof has been looking into that. -- Best regards, Miguel A. weird behavior for the bat Christmas Edition (3.95.6)
Hello Listbuds, I have a problem with a webpage that opens the bat email and sends the contents of the page to the email client. I tested the code in the version prior to this christmas release, and the old bat worked just fine. Outlook works just fine. However, the christmas version does not pass any paramenters except the first variable in the subject line, and the rest is lost and the body of the email is lost. The webpage calling email is this: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/redondofreecycle if you click on the link Members! Try our new message assistant! (click this link!) you will see the interactive dialogue that builds the email, when you press the button, it calls your default email client and loads what you entered on the page... except if you are using the bat christmas edition. (3.95.6) So what gives. I don't have my other computer that had the older version of the bat on it when I developed it back in December... but I know it worked. The Bat is the only email client I use. So is this something that can be fixed? Thanks... More Christmas Version Issues - forward and attachments
Hello listbuds... the behaviors are so weird between my prior version of the bat and this christmas version. I am at a loss to figure out what the problem is. So I'm describing various scenarios. ok, so in this version of theBat v 3.95.6, when I forward an item that is html manually, the html file is there, but when I forward it via a filter, the html file is NOT attached. also.. if I forward a file that just has jpg attachments attachments manually (not through a filter) the jpg's are not attached. Also, very weird is when I select a group of emails to forward (for instance I forward all the paypal spoofs to [EMAIL PROTECTED]) and fill in the dialogue as to where to forward the emails to, they forward, but the little icon next to the email that usually changes to reflect that the item has been forwarded does not change. On my other version of the bat, it did change the indicator. So. my list buds... does anyone have any idea on what to do? -- Best regards, Laura mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Current version is 3.98 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
