And here - messages listed by "time", oldest first. Confusingly,
as I look at the moment the older messages have time+date but the
last 27 hours or so just has time.

I get that a lot. Not with the Inbox, but with country folders. I then
finetune the filtering conditions more and split that folder into two,
for example "Germany-Companies Group A" and "Germany-Companies Group
B".

NZc> He created another folder and moved half of the contents of the

Seperating is better, as otherwise he will run into the same probelm
regularly.

Without compressing, the folder size on the disk is not reduced.

That's bad luck, something went wrong. Look whether you find a
part*.bin file in that directory on the hard disk. If so, it will
contain the missing mails and most of them can be imported.

You can delete the .tbi file while TB! is closed. Next time you open
it, a new index file will be created.

The .tbi file also contains flags, colour groups, and memos. These
will be lost when you delete it.

Hi Peter,

Firstly thank you for your response! Your suggestion will be tried
first thing.

He's in the gallery biz and receives a lot of photo attachments.

I think he did just to get rid of the warning.

Excellent idea. Any thoughts about wiping out the .tbi files and
letting the Bat! re-create them?

That's far too much! I didn't know The Bat! warns about it, but right
it is! Incoming mails should be moved or filtered to a folder where
they belong, and the Inbox compressed.

NZc> He created another folder and moved half of the contents of the

Why only one half?

Create a new folder in The Bat! named "test". Close The Bat!. Open
your file manager and copy the TBB file to "test" (overwrite the
existing TBB). Start The Bat!. Open the folder "test". The messages
should be there.

Maximum folder size?

2008-01-12 Thread NickOhare
Hi All,

Recently a friend ran into a problem where the Bat! started giving him
warnings that his inbox reached 2 gigs. He created another folder and
moved half of the contents of the default inbox to the new folder.

The Bat! continued to give him the error message, so he decided to
compress the folder. He later noticed that the inbox lost all emails
prior to the current day.

Any ideas where they may have gone? His trash folder is listed as
empty but the .tbb file associated with it is listed with a size of 1
gig. Is there any way to get to see what it contains?

I confirm this is the case over here, in the Despatcher. But this is
exactly what Grumpy wants, so I am confused why they are sorted at
random in his case.

I don't think so. As far as I understand the message dispatcher lists
the messages in the order it receives them, i.e., the order they are
listed on the server.
