Forwading Messages

2008-04-01 Thread Rick
I want to set up forwarding so that I can forward messages WITHOUT an
attachment and AS an attachment as the alternate.

Currently in the Account Properties forwarding template I have
Forward as attachment UNchecked yet [control]O will create a forward
with text plus an EML attachment and I must use Alternate forward to
get text only

Any ideas? It has been this way since 3.99 and I have tried checking
the forward as attachment to see if it is toggling it the wrong way
etc. (it isn't)

Thanks

Two entries?

2008-04-01 Thread Quin
Hello TBUDL,

Whenever I open a mail message, two The Bat! Application entries
are present in Windows Task Manager. Both entries point to the same
process. So far as I can tell, this doesn't create any problems. I am
curious, though, about the two entries. Is this normal The Bat!
 behavior?

Yes, that's normal behaviour. It allows you to switch from one window
to another even when you run them maximized.

This posting violated the list rules regarding top posting.

Top posting, i.e., typing all your reply text at the top of your
message and following it with all quoted text below, is not
encouraged and we actually request that you not do so on this list
because

a) It makes it difficult to glean context from what you typed at the
   top of the message

and

b) It encourages excessive quoting.

We would much prefer if you quote just that much of the message to
which you're replying, so we know what it is you're referring to,
and then below the quotation, type your response. If you're
responding to more than one part of the original, then quote each
part separately and follow each part with your response.

Now, I know that you may not personally prefer this format and that
you may disagree with some of the reasoning here. We very much
respect this. However, this is the format that most of the active
members here prefer and all members are expected, and are being
asked to use the format that will make most of the active membership
here comfortable reading. You'll likely get a more responsive group
when you post using a style that is comfortable for them to read and
understand.

private mail, please read the welcome message you received when you

Thank you.

Please include a signature delimiter in your messages. This consists
of a dashdashspacereturn, i.e., a '-- ' by itself on a line.
This allows your readers, when replying, to quote your text without
the signature and list footers since everything below and including
the sig delimiter is excluded when quoting.

You can easily automate this process by including the sig delimiter in
your templates.

Even if you barely have a signature to speak of, that doesn't make any
difference to whether or not you need a cut mark. You are being
courteous to other readers since at least three lines of text is added
to your signature by the list server.

To find out why these MOD messages are posted to the list instead of

 See https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=6593

I had a similar issue one time. It was fixed by right clicking the
tool bar and choosing customize Pick the standard icon bar. Now on
the lower right change the icons to menu icons and click OK. YOu will
see they are no longer grayed out - go change it back if you want the
large icons - chalk it up to BAT MYSTICISM. lol

I gase at the brilliant full moon. The same one, I think to myself, at
which Socrates, Aristotole and Plato gazed. Suddenly, I imagine they
appear beside me. I tell Socrates about the national debate over one's
right to die and wonder at the constancy of the human condition. I tell
Plato that I live in the country that has come the closest to Utopia,
and I show him a copy of the Constitution. I tell Aristotle that we have
found many more than four basic elements and I show a periodic table. I
get a box of kitchen matches and strike one. They gasp with wonder. We
spend the rest of the night lighting farts.

Re[2]: Best way to use The Bat on two home computers?

2008-04-01 Thread Achdut18
Hi, everyone.

On Sunday, March 30, 2008, 4:53:35 PM, Thomas wrote:

DH Synchronisation is a three step process and so you don't want to be doing
this on a
DH daily basis.

A Is it really that involved?

TF This is how I have been synchronising for years:

TF Each outgoing mail is BCC'ed to myself. This way, not only the
TF incoming but also the outgoing mails are on each computer on which I
TF check them.

TF TB! is on each computer is set to leave messages on the server, albeit
TF it is possible to set one computer to a number of days ...

TF IMAP or webmail are no option for me due to unreliable and somewhat
TF slow internet connections. ...

After thinking through, further, about how I want to use the laptop and
desktop, it makes most sense to me to have mail on BOTH machines so that when I
travel with the laptop, I am not confined to just whatever mail happens to be
on the server. It also makes sense that I not use IMAP for several reasons:
difficulties reported by some people, a friend who owns a computer
repair/consulting business recommends against it, and I have found that the
server-based e-mail system we use at the office (where we have T3 lines!!!) is
often painfully slow.

That brings us to the question of synchronization. Although The Bat offers a
synchronization feature; after reading about this in the Help Topics, I assume
that the feature only works if I have The Bat set up in IMAP, rather than POP3.
 Is this correct?

If that is so, then, if I want to be able to download messages on the laptop as
well as the desktop in a POP3 environment, I would have to be willing to live
with not being able to see on one computer, what messages were read or not read
on the other. Is that correct?

Alternatively, could I set up The Bat on the laptop, but have it point to the
mail directory on the desktop where the messages are kept, and merely copy that
directory to my laptop when I travel with it, which is only a few times a year?

If the answer to this is yes, how do I make an installation of The Bat on the
laptop point to the mail directory on the desktop?

Would this, then, obviate the need to blind BCC myself on every message sent
from the laptop?

And, if I do that, will downloads initiated from the laptop place mail in the
mail directory on the desktop so long as I have the laptop's installation of
The Bat point to the Mail folder located on the desktop?
