Search System for TheBat!

2008-07-06 Thread Barry
Hi all

Some of you may be interested in a Search Program that I stumbled across the
other day. I was looking for a program to search all my thousands of
WordPerfect files and I came across Archivarius.

The bonus for me was that it also indexes and searches all my TB! mailboxes.
It's really good and fast!

Daily digests of Yahoo groups displys ugly

2008-07-06 Thread DANG
Hello listmates,

I am rather new to The Bat! and have a question about mailing lists
other than this one, more specifically Yahoo groups with the daily
digest option and Fully featured display selected. The latter
generates a HTML view with links to each message which is quite
handy. In The Bat however, these digests show up with all kinds of
text sizes in a seemingly random way. Is there a way I can prevent
that?

I also noticed that the digests of this list are handled differently,
The Bat creates a tab for each message in the digest. Is that
something you can get for Yahoo group digests as well?

Thanks in advance!

You may get a better answer from someone else but ...
I have yet to see ANY email program that displays the Yahoo's fully
featured group mail correctly

I'm in several Yahoo groups and the consensus seems to be Turn it
off

Again, you may get a better answer from someone else on this list :)

Hi Rick,

Thunderbird does -- at least it's readable, I don't know if it's
correct or not. When Yahoo started with the fully featured thing, I
thought it was just a pain in the ash, but later on I began to
appreciate it -- don't know if that was due to some improvements
they made.

I have just migrated from Thunderbird to The Bat, and I expect
EVERYTHING to be better or at least as good as in Thunderbird, but
maybe that is a bit too much! J

They must have improved it. I used Thunderbird a couple of years ago
and Yahoo new and improved was a mess.

HTML support is fairly new with the Bat and they are working on it in
the beta releases so it should get a lot better over time. Try opening
the index.html file in your browser and see if that is any better.

Another thing: Before the moderators get involved - they frown on top
posting so if you reply, put your reply UNDER the quotes :)

OK, I do prefer top posting, but I'll stick to the rules -- I'm still
hoping for an answer regarding group mail digests!

And $30 for basic single users who aren't students - although it does
look great. I just installed the 30-day, which has a limit on files.

I'm not sure it is worth it for me, but some will find it worthwhile.
It does better on email files than anything I've seen.

Thanks for the link, even though I am unlikely to spend the $.

Re[3]: AVG notification of virus check

2008-07-06 Thread m2gdh
 Hi

re the certification messages .
I seem to remember a thread on this topic years ago.

From memory - the certification text that is passed by the plug-in
is simply ignored by TB.
Again, from memory, this was because the developers took the view that just
because
AVG says there is no virus doesn't necessarily mean there isn't one.

I seem to recall users asked for this behaviour to be a preference setting
but the developers refused on principle.

When I tested, since you do get a notification if AVG actually finds a virus
on an outgoing mail and prevents you from sending it: as a workaround for
outgoing messages only why not simply add the certification text to your
message template ?
