Gmail ignores whatever is set in your email client.

When you set up POP, you have to choose between mark Gmail copy as
read and Delete Gmail copy at the website.

Gmail also has the nasty habit of breaking email clients (the error
log fills up with web login required if you access
the Internet with a different IP address. Not unusual at all for
people with laptops who travel.

I guess this depends on gmail's interpretation of your settings, which
 may differ from everybody else's.

For my gmail account, which I access by POP, the messages appear to be
deleted once downloaded despite my TB! setting to leave them on server
for X days afterwards. As well as being no longer available by POP,
messages I have downloaded are immediately missing via the gmail web
 interface

I subscribe to many mailing lists via e-mail. 99.9%
work fine, but one sends some mails in some odd format.
TB! won't read them without clicking on the html tab,
 or the part_01.txt tab.

This suggests to me that the messages are received in HTML format
without including a plaintext version, and with no text content in the
HTML version.

I get occasional amusing emails forwarded to me where the text is
actually in an image file; sometimes these come as a blank message
body with the image attached, but once in a while they behave as you
describe.

Thanks for the reply, I stupidly got distracted and forgot to upload
the files, sorry ;) They should be available now.

Hello Adrian,

Gmail ignores whatever is set in your email client.

That is true.

When you set up POP, you have to choose between mark Gmail copy as
read and Delete Gmail copy at the website.

I have four options:
- delete Gmail's copy
- keep Gmail's copy in the Inbox
- mark Gmail's copy as read
- archive Gmail's copy

Hello Chris,

Is there a way for TB! to be set to reply to this one mailing list
with html, and to use regular plain text for all my many other lists
 please?

Yes, you can define Reply template for that folder to be HTML. Right
click on the folder, select Properties/Templates/Reply and in top menu
of the window select Format/HTML.
