CL I think i was trying to drag some of her posts to another directory, and
CL maybe i had the alt key pressed, or tapped another key? its all a blur
CL now :-/ ...

TF You had the alt key pressed while clicking on the sender's name.
TF That's how you make only mails from this sender displayed. It also
TF works with recipient name, subject etc.

What a totally cool feature! If you keep all your emails from/to a
person in its own folder, it makes finding complete threads a snap!

TF Charlie Laidlaw wrote:

CL sorry, i don't understand, can you go through it with me? I have
CL several folders like that ... what do you mean by 'complete thread'?
CL Mine are all complete - all the messages belonging to a certain topic
CL are grouped together.

TF You seem to be lucky, as the senders of the emails you receive all use
TF a threading mechanism that TB understands. Most of the emails that I
TF receive are sent by Outlook, and TB does not recognize the In-Reply-To
TF header of MS-OL (I hope this is in the wishlist, though).

TF Therefore, if I want to see all emails that "belong together", I will
TF alt-click on the subject, and voila!, only messages with that subject
TF are shown, and I can take my pick. :-)

Yes, that is what I was talking about.

JA By Globally, do you mean across accounts? No.

JA If you mean across folders within a single account, yes. Go into
JA each folder's properties dialogue and make sure "Use account column
JA settings" is checked. Unfortunately, you must select this option on
JA every folder that you want to have the same settings.

Okay, I went in and did all that. Matched the settings in the folder
of the account name.. if that makes sense.. I have a "141.com"
account. And the folders matched *that* folder.

I tried to change the folder columns (moved size) in the default
account. Worked, except the folders didn't follow suit. Moreover, when
I clicked back to the default account folder, *that* had reverted to
its previous column order.

The column sizes also don't seem to stick.

bug?

Is the main account folder the default account folder? Or am I missing
something, or am I totally confused now?
