preview pane weirdness
methinks i'm going crazy ... i use the full-height account tree window mode and used to be able to make the preview pane disappear but now don't seem to be able to. is there a configuration setting to control this or is my only option to drag the message list down to 'cover' the preview pane? i can do this when TB is maximized but it doesn't work when TB is 'windowed'. once the message list gets to within one inch (or so) of fully covering the preview pane, the entire bottom of TB starts to move down with the message list. this has happened since the 3.96.07 (beta) but i'm not sure it's TB related cuz i just built a new pc and lots has changed in terms of hardware and drivers. any suggestions other than psychoanalysis will be appreciated. thanks/regards, .. mark davidson -- Current version is 3.95.08 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

hi thomas, message from thomas fernandez created on 2/17/2007 follows ... View / Message Auto-View (shft-crtl-E) figured it out ... menus weren't showing every option. i've never customised the menus but that was indeed the problem ... set them to default and all is again well. thanks for the help. regards, .. mark davidson -- Current version is 3.95.08 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

hi thomas, message from thomas fernandez created on 2/17/2007 follows ... Is there a button for default or restore to factory settings? I cannot find it, but I asked for it a long time ago, because I think that is important for those who like to play a lot (of which I am one, if I have the time). right click on the menu-bar, select customise - menus toolbars tab, restore to default is one of four options at the bottom of the left panel. thanks/regards, .. -- Current version is 3.95.08 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re: backup error - corrupt index or ... ?
hi roelof, message from roelof otten created on 2/10/2007 follows ... First thing you do is create a new folder and copy all messages for your faulty folder to the new one. Check whether all messages have really been copied, if so delete all messages in the faulty folder and compress it. That ought to to take care of things. (You could delete the messages.tbb and .tbi from the defunct folder.) In case not all messages are copied, close TB and move the messages.tbb from that folder to a safe place, you can delete the messages.tbi Now start TB again. Try to import the messages from your moved messages.tbb file. i tried the above steps multiple times but TB backup pops up the same error message as it processes that inbox each and every time. lacking any ideas of my own, my next step is to let the backup continue and do a test restore to determine what, if anything, is wrong with the restored messages. apart from keeping a safe copy of the messages.tbb file to import from if necessary, i don't know what else to try. thanks/regards, .. mark davidson -- Current version is 3.95.08 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
backup error - corrupt index or ... ?
i'm seeing an error during backup ... same inbox every time. TB pops up a message indicating it might be a problem with the index with an instruction to delete the index and reload TB to recreate the index. i did this several times without success ... the error repeats on every backup. i don't know if it's related but this particular inbox compresses every time i close TB ... even when no mail was received. this does not occur with any of my other accounts. i'm currently running 3.96.04 beta. does anyone have a thought as to what the problem might be and how to fix it? thanks/regards, .. mark davidson -- Current version is 3.95.08 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re: Installing additional HDD
hi thomas, In the office, I have one local HDD with two partitions, C and D. TB's program files reside on C, mailbase on D. What I intend to do is to add another physical HDD with another two partitions. If I understand Windows correctly, C will then be the first partition on HDD0, D will be the first partition on HDD1, E is the second on HDD0 and F is the second on HDD1. This is Windows default and I cannot change anything about it - if this is incorrect, please let me know! you don't mention the version of windows you're running or if the partitions on the new hdd will be logical or primary. no matter, i think your assumption is incorrect ... at least for win2k and winxp. via disk management, you have the ability to assign/reassign drive letters as you see fit. i have 8 hdd's and do it all the time. check it out ... settings - control panel - administrative tools - computer management - disk management. if drive letters aren't the way you want them after installing the new hdd, temporarily reassign a new letter to the partition with the letter you want (e.g., D - Q) ... that frees up D for reassignment. then go to E, make it D, go to Q, make it E, and so on. drop me a line off list if i'm not being clear. thanks/regards, .. -- Current version is 3.80.06 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re: Installing additional HDD
hi thomas, The first partition on the new HDD will be primary, the second logical. Does it matter? could be mistaken but think the only reserved letter is c: for the active primary partition. why do you need two primary partitions? why not make all partitions on the second hdd logical? I also have two partitions on Disk 0 that show Healthy (Unknown partition). One is 502MB, the other a whopping 11.83GB, both of them 100% free. What are these partitions? Right-clicking on them allows me to delete logical drive. Do I want to do that to have access to the space the space? dunno but all i can say is delete with extreme caution. for partition maintenance, i would recommend an application such as acronis disk director or symantec partition magic ... those tools tell you much more about what's on your hdd than winxp tools. for example, they can tell you that the partitions are formatted for another OS instead of just being unknown. good luck! thanks/regards, .. -- Current version is 3.80.06 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
quick template - %IsSignature macro - erases message text
i've used TB for a couple of years but am only now experimenting with quick templates for signature purposes. i'm finding that the %IsSignature macro works as advertised except that it erases most all of the message text when it inserts my very simple signature below the dash dash space delimiter. this occurs in new messages and in replies. i checked the archives and found a long-ago reference to this problem but not what the solution was. any help will be appreciated. -- thanks/regards, mark davidson Current version is 3.62.09 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
message list - loop to beginning
is there a way to prevent the bat from looping to the beginning of the message list after the last unread message is read? i think it's illogical that this occurs but don't see a way to prevent it. did i miss a setting somewhere? thanks/regards, .. mark davidson -- Current version is 3.5 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
