Thanks for jumping in.

The licence email I have says that my key is good to 6.0.99, so that
shouldn't have been the reason.

That said, this is getting weirder because my wife's copy of TB! has
started working with no apparent reason but my copy of TB! seems to
have started downloading each message twice (at least, I'm getting
two copies of each and for at least one of the messages, the
'received' figure in one copy is a minute later than the other).
This makes me suspect that the root cause might be on the server, so
I'll reboot that and see if things settle down!

I wonder if it is because a new license is needed to do from 5.0.34 to
5.2.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I tried disabling the firewall on her machine to no avail.

The message bases are on a Samba share, so I logged onto the Linux
server with her credentials and ensured that the entire directory tree
for the account was chmod 777. I also checked message base folder
properties in Windows Explorer and ensured that nothing was read-only.
The issue is still present.

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, I doubt that this is due to a virus for the following
reasons:
1. All my wife's messages are 'stuck' this way
2. I used the control panel on my mail server to copy all of her inbox
on the server to my account and then downloaded them to TB! on my
   machine with no issues.
3. The same issue occurs after I accessed her mail on the server and
deleted anything I wasn't completely confident of.

Thanks again,

Thaty kind of error is most likely to occur when you're downloading a
message that contains a virus. The message gets downloaded to temp,
the virus scanner kicks in and deletes the message.
TB tries to import it and can't find it.
Use either the mail dispatcher
(accont -> dispatch mail on server)
or your ISP's webmail in order to delete the infected message.

ERROR: FETCH - could not store message

2013-01-09 Thread Geoff Lane
Using The Bat! v5.2 on Windows XP Home SP3

I have a two-seat licence. I upgraded my wife's copy from 5.0.34 to
5.2 and now she can't download new messages from our server. The
Connection Centre reports that it's retrieving all the messages
available but then reports an error similar to the following for each:

FETCH - could not store message (file name -
C:\DOCUME~1\Jan\LOCALS~1\Temp\bat47.tmp)

I've checked permissions on the Temp folder and have no problem
creating a file from the command prompt with:
echo Test > "C:\Documents and Settings\Jan\Local Settings\Temp\bat47.tmp"

I've searched the Internet and found several reports of the same issue
with various versions of TB! but no solution.

Can anyone help?

TIA,
