Auto-Backup

2009-11-03 Thread Christian Buhtz

I know how to configure a auto-backup but I still have questions about it.

1.
Is it possible to catch up a backup-job if TB doesn't run on the
specified time?
For example there is a daily job configured at 22:00 o'clock. But what
happens if TB doesn't run at this time and I just run it the next day at
6 o'clock?
Is there something like a service installed in windows that will open TB
and run the backup-job at the specified time?

2.
As Backup methode I set Create an Update to an existing archive:.
The archive is still there. But on each backup there is a new created
archive with the same name plus a number.

Why and how can I fix it?
I make a daily backup. I don't wont over 300 files there for each year!

Re: Auto Backup

Hi, Tony.

I use something like following batch-file:

==start-backup.bat===
rem backup registry
regedit /e c:\Backup\TheBat.reg HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!

rem backup program and mail folder
c:\APack\WinRAR\Rar.exe a  c:\Backup\mail.rar c:\_aff_\TheBat

rem create folder for current backup
md c:\Backup\%Date%

rem place files into folder
move c:\Backup\*.* c:\Backup\%Date%
==start-backup.bat===

So i use WinRAR to pack my mail folder.
Very simple.

One of the tricks is creation folder with name as current date
(md c:\Backup\%Date%)

Currently TB's scheduler doesn't support automatic back-ups, nor can
TB be set to make a back-up from the commandline.

Your best option would be to make your back-ups with some third party
tool that either can be run from the commandline (and therefore from
the Windows scheduler) or that has some scheduling of its own.
