How can you diagnose a filter? I set up a filter that should filter
hundreds of messages, but only got 4.
And can you have a filter do nothing? Just run through, counting the
messages it applies to?

My filter is fixed now. I copied the filter from Read to Incoming mail.
Even though it isn't Incoming mail.
I figured it'd be nice to have some diagnostic for filter functioning,
though don't suppose what it would consist of.

Not all do... although in some case, the mail servers strip them out to
save size... Depends on the administrator of the mail server, and the way
