I've taken the test several times using TB, Nod32 and the Nod32
plug-in in varying combinations and have never experienced a problem.

and leaves a program on your computer that keeps placing a message in
your inbox with Eicar.com test-virus, presumably until you buy their
 program.

It is a sleazy way of doing business and I want to warn everybody
against this company. They ignore all mail pertaining to this
problem, and in the meantime the hidden program goes on places their
messages in the inbox again and again - online or not!

I use a number of GFI products and have never had a problem. Their
reputation is very good and their scanner program is often recommended
in the security community.

I recall others on the list discussing strange happenings with certain
anti-virus plug-ins and programs. What anti-virus program are you
using? Any anti-virus plug-in? If you are getting the message over
and over, even if you are offline, you may have a problem with TB and
your anti-virus program. A search of the archives may prove useful.

You might also want to take a look at the processes running on your
computer to see if there are, in fact, any programs that you do not
recognize.

This I don't believe. Sure, they send you the Eicar-test-virus to check
your AV program, but I got it only once per test and my AV caught it.

I don't believe there's a hidden program. I'd do a search for all
new/changed files of that date with the file manager set to display
hidden files too, just to make sure.

Perhaps the mail is for any reason not deleted on the server? You can
check with the mail dispatcher.

I agree. I've been using GFI site to test my email security for over a year
with nary a problem. Second the problem re server. Also, check own settings
in TB! I remember when I first started using TB! I sent a very nasty email
to a company who I thought was spamming my inbox, only to discover I had
turned the delete from server setting off! Did wonders for my credibility!
