I tested this with a low priority message and I think that you are correct. It had a square with a downward arrow (and the From: and Subj: info was dimmed!). I then noticed that when I was composing a message and clicked on the Options Menu to select Low Priority, the icons to the left of the priority selections looked just like the ones in the Mail Ticker. Also, when I sent my original message I had only seen one "P" but subsequently noticed many more and no "A"s. I (eventually!) realized that I had sent my message around Noon and that the A/P display must be a failed attempt to show me the time of reception. Switching to non-Thin view shows the date below the A/P but still no time shown. Well, since the main purpose for me in the Mail Ticker is to pop up when *any* mail has arrived (replacing the flapping bat wings) the actual content of the Ticker is of less importance. I actually am a little surprised that there is so little customization of the Ticker available. I would expect RitLabs to allow me to determine what is shown for each new message or even just the number of new messages, since if there are many, I have to wait an unknown amount of time to see that info. Oh well, maybe a wishlist item. I had hoped to be able to show you what appears on my machine when I invoke the mail ticker but, it was not to be. I'll have to describe what I'm seeing instead. I have not been able to determine what the green square is which is also displayed on my ticker just as you describe. The "A" and "P" might be the "AM" or "PM" associated with the time of receipt of the message as that is what my ticker shows below the size. I don't know why your ticker would not show the time properly but we have seen some display problems caused by Windows font size. You can search the Bat! mail archive here: http://www.mail-archive.com/tbudl%40thebat.dutaint.com/ for references to font size problems. Best of luck. -- Jack LaRosa Using The Bat! ver: 4.2.44.2. My guess for the green square is "normal" priority, since when you select the priority for a new message, the "normal" menu item has a green square. No ideas about the "A" or "P" as I see the received date there. Maybe that changed since v4.0.38. -- Best regards MFPAmailto:expires2...@ymail.com Virtual workspace, Virtual Office, Virtual Job Using The Bat! v4.0.38 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Current version is 4.2.42 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Learning to use Mail Ticker
Bat Folk, I have been using The Bat! for about 8 years but I have never used the Mail Ticker. Now with the updated GUI of Windows 7, I decided to try it. In looking at the crawl (in thin view), I can see the From, Subj, Size and two other things: an icon on the left that is usually a green square; and a letter under the Size, usually an "A" but at least once a "P". Unfortunately, the documentation is (typically) poor! Can anyone point me to better documention? Or at least tell me what these last two might mean? -- Bill McQuillan Using The Bat! 5.0.12 on Windows 7 6.1 build 7601-Service Pack 1 Current version is 4.2.42 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
