Maxium Number of messages or Days settings
It appears I do not know how to use this function. When I go into folder settings (highlight the inbox and right click to properties), I have checked and set the Maxium number of messages setting to 1000 on one of my larger folders. I then save the settings, the size stays the same. The account setting is set to compact on exit so I exit, see the compaction routine go, and the open TheBat back up... folder still shows 3000 messages. I checked and set the days to keep messages to 30 days and still have emails from 2003. What step am I missing to use this feature to self regulate the folder size?? Is this supposed to regulate the folder size?? Dear Spyder, @14-Mar-2004, 10:19 -0600 (14-Mar 16:19 UK time) Scott [S] in mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] said to TBUDL: S What step am I missing to use this feature to self regulate the S folder size?? Is this supposed to regulate the folder size?? Purge. This is the function that trims folders. Compress just recovers space freed up by purged and deleted records. The folder should be configured to Remove old messages on exit. That would set it for automatic purge. Or you can use the folder maintenance routines to perform a purge and compress. -- Cheers -- .\\arck D Pearlstone -- List moderator TB! v2.05 Beta/1 on Windows 2000 5.0.2195 Service Pack 4 ' pgp0.pgp Description: PGP signature Current version is 2.04.7 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Please don't feel singled out Spyder. Please include a signature delimiter in your messages. This consists of a dashdashspacereturn, i.e., a '-- ' by itself on a line. This allows your readers, when replying, to quote your text without the signature and list footers since everything below and including the sig delimiter is excluded when quoting. You can easily automate this process by including the sig delimiter in your templates. Even if you barely have a signature to speak of, that doesn't make any difference to whether or not you need a cut mark. You are being courteous to other readers since at least three lines of text is added to your signature by the list server. Thank you. /moderator =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-Original message text=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Thanks for the tip. I will get that changed. Since I am not used to being a bottom poster putting the latest comment about the email at the top, I dont think about the bottom of the email (other than trimming them from time to time). I did look at about 15 other email lists I subscribe to and noticed they do not have something anything similar. Is this just a TheBat thing? Also, just hitting reply to your email seemed to omit some of the text, so I had some extra mouse work to do to get it all quoted. -- Scott Windows 2000 The Bat 2.04.7 Popfile Spam Filter http://popfile.sourceforge.net/ Current version is 2.04.7 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
