Hi Patrick

This is what I would try:

1. In The Bat! Account Properties for your default mail account, pick the
'General' Tab and make sure that This account is the default for mailto:;
URLS is ticked.

2. Start IE7 go to Tools, Internet Options, Programs. If The Bat! is
shown as the E-mail service change it to something else, restart IE7 and
change it back to The Bat!, or if it isn't TheBat! make sure it is!

This has always worked for me, but I can't vouch for Vista...

thanks for your suggestions
did what you described
(also deleting the registry RIT directory)

but didn't helped

still getting Could not perform this operation because the default
mail client is not properly installed when clicking on a 'mailto'
link

guess I have to live with it :-(

RO So I'd advice you to uninstall TB (don't delete your message base)
RO and install it again and point it your your current message base, so
RO you won't loose mail.

Ok, I tried it
1. uninstall, install again : no change
2. uninstall, reboot, set windows mail as default, reboot
3. install The Bat, got message to install it as default, for all possibilities,
   marked them all : no change
4. reboot : no change

It only seems to effect the 'mailto-tag' in webpages
When I want to sent a file with email out of explorer it takes The Bat

I'm open to suggestions
