Summary of v3?

2004-09-05 Thread Allister Jenks
Hello TBUDLers,

Having tired of reading the many-and-rambling threads on v3, would
somebody who has had the time please summarise:

1) The issues/bugs

2) Any info from RIT about licensing issues

I know many TBUDLers are unhappy with the affair (and some aren't), but
has there been *any* response from RIT about all this?

If you want a 50-50 chance of:

a) no reply at all, or

b) a smartarse reply

email them off their site. (Actually, it seems to be about 80-20.)

I not only still get these 100%-CPU-usage freezings, they have become
worse, to the extent that I cannot upgrade until this particualr
problem is solved. I have had this problem for a few versions, but
with 2.13b1 it became this extrem, and it hasn't been fixed.

That said, even though it is a show-stopper for myself (on the Win98
machine at home), there are only very few users confirming this.

Others report memory leaks, which again cannot be confirmed by all.

Problems with the new filtering system are still being reported on
TBBETA. Nevertheless, many have reported that they have no problems.

In summary, you may be lucky.

I can confirm that this same problem is true here.

TF Others report memory leaks, which again cannot be confirmed by all.

That is true here also and has been ongoing since 2.11beta6, or there
about. Somehow I missed previous post concerning this issue here and
on TBBETA and assumed that it was my local problem.

Due to CPU usage and /or memory leaks, my message list in TheBat! is
becoming corrupted on program open, to the extent that TheBat! will
assign the same 'Received' and 'Created' date for 50 or 60 of the
oldest messages in a particular folder / account while leaving the
'From', 'To:', and 'Subject' fields blank, and move them to top of my
message list with the current calendar dates.

I have purchased TheBat! 3.0 Professional and can assure you that this
/ these problems have / has not yet been addressed. I'm a bit more
than disgruntled at Ritlabs. In all fairness to Ritlabs though, all
the 'cutesy' stuff works great.

I am one of those that does not have this problem with Windows 98 and Version 3,
nor am I having problems with the HTML error. Perhaps we can compare
configurations.

Can't confirm or deny this, how are you testing.

DW No problems with XP Pro SP1 here.

And it seems that users using / above Win2K don't have this problem,
but I don't have a clue why a 32 bit Win OS would be a factor, if it
is.

Do you use lots of Virtual Folders, I only have a few and they are

Do you use many filters that filter on Message Source as opposed to

What Browser do you use? I am still stuck with Internet Explorer, but
I notice many use Firefox and they are often reporting problems with
two windows opening when clicking on HTML links. Maybe its related.
