I simply watch the task manager, and when the system has finished its disk accessing and been quiet for a full minute, then hit "end task" or in some cases the reset button to complete the reboot. Note that I'm still back on version 4.2; obviously this situation has been around for a very long time. I suspect that the process is continuing to update The Bat! files although the user interface part of the program has finished. On the few occasions that I forced it to end before disk activities had completely stopped, I found that TB's interface didn't look the same as it had before the reboot -- although I never lost any data. -- Best regards, Jimmailto:j...@jimkyle.com Using The Bat! v4.2.36.4 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 3 on VirtualBox 4.2.18 under Xubuntu 12.04.3 with AntiSpamSniper Version 3.2.4.5 Current version is 6.1.8 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

The Bat process continues to run after app is closed, sometimes
My pc's shutdown process generated an "End Program" pop up notice headlined, "End Program - thebat" that stated "This program is not responding." My choices are to either "end now" or "cancel." The Bat was closed so I looked at the processes running under Task Manager and saw that thebat.exe was running. IIRC, it was 284k. So, I reopened and closed The Bat, and the same thing happened. Now, I can just end the process, but why is a process running in the background when The Bat is closed? Perhaps this is somehow related to the stream write error message problem that has never been resolved? (See my earlier post from Dec 2) Bottom line question, though, is, why would a process be running for The Bat after having closed the application? Note, this does not always happen. -- Avi Avram Sacks, using The Bat! ver. 5.8.2 on WinXP sp3 Current version is 6.1.8 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
