Interesting. I thought it wasn't used, but I've found that is actually
is. But it is used in a wise way: my short date format was yy-MM-dd
(note two-digit year), and TB used to display 1980-05-14 and that is
why I thought it didn't use the setting from Control Panel. But it
 seems that everything is correct.

This must be a Win98 thing because TB!'s date format does it's own thing
on my machine. I haven't been able to change TB!'s date format.

Morning Allie,

This must be a Win98 thing because TB!'s date format does it's own thing
on my machine. I haven't been able to change TB!'s date format.

I think he means the date format in the address book, this indeed does
depend on the system settings, unlike the message list view dates.

Just noted, the address book weirldy has a very different lookfeel to it
than the rest of the program.

OK. But why the message list has a fixed date format is strange and
unique. :-(

To me anyone commenting on a product, stopping when there is a virus

little bit further and if one doesnt know if the product works or not,
I wouldnt fill any questionaires about it. On the other hand I would

No, I had an answer from that address or at least due to sending it
there.
I think its just the normal virus nervous average ignorant user (g)

Sorry if anyone feels insulted by that...

This doesn't seem to be a fake e-mail address: There is a MX record in
 the DNS system!

he answered and he wouldnt have done that if the email didnt arive or
if he considered it total rubbish. He had a shock getting Mcafee
warnings, and even still asked if the program was any good.
he wouldnt have either answered or asked if he was out to just torpedo
the bat...

I would essentially from the Bat out just inform the people running
this survey that on some systems mcafee and Norton gave fake alarms
due to the protection compression...
But as said I think this guy was just an average victim of of the
compression and mcafee and once they have been bitten by a virus I
donot blame them from being nervous...

Ok, I have to pop off on a service call.. I LOVE MCAFEE and Symantec
telling people to delete that files32.VXD if they have Pretty Park.
After which nothing runs under windows(g).
Its really good for business to have products like that around...

Stan, any idea why one guy complains about a virus in the setup
 file???

Someone would have spotted that I hope and loudly complained...
Besides I hope my system doesnt allow that kind of thing

If you check the archives you may find threads with reference to this.
Quite a few people were complaining that their anti-virus software was
sounding alarms that the TB! exe file was infected. NAV was the most
commonly affected anti-virus program and funnily not all NAV users
experienced this. The complaints quickly petered out. I'm surprised to see
a resurgence in this concern.

The guy propbably never used it after he got those alarms...

It could be that he works for the competition. I have seen this
happen many times when they try to scuttle a product.

Yep, and in most cases, it's cheaper to ignore it.

nope, I checked it:

Quote:
I don't know where the file was being downloaded from - whatever's set up on
CNET for this file, I guess. I use both McAfee and Solomon on my PC, and it
complained about a virus, though I can't remember the name. Probably a
corrupted file, but I'm not taking a chance with Bat right now.

Is it a good product?

EOQ..

Not sure that last sentence is qualifying for a review but anyway as
Macafee had for a while Symantec borrowed code inside it, likely they
had the same problem...
Symantec had used a student who wrote a Thesis to write some of that
stuff and McAfee considered a Thesis had no copyright.
Right or wrong didnt really matter as once Symantec started looking
they found other pieces of borrowed code in other programs and as its
all quiet about that period I suspect they forked out the cash

Anyway, I answered the guy so maybe he gives it another go..
I guess he likely once got seriously burned by a virus, and will be so
again considering he runs those 2 (why both no idea as I thought
latest versions are the same just have different name...)

Best regards,

tracer
