 Oh just jump!

Well, not today. MY right knee is hurting to much ;-)

wrong classifying the ticker problem to IMAP, and would suggest looking

Thanks Greg, but I don't use IMAP at all. In any case, the possible

Unless I'm missing something here macros would be the only significant
issue with your upgrade to v2. I'm no macro expert, but from what I've
read the changes are better. I had some of my macros go south on me with
v1.63 beta 8. I relied on the experts to get the bugs worked out.

Hopefully newer documentation on v2 will provide insight to users such as
yourself. Hope the knee feels better, take care! :-)

Hello MAU,

Is there such a thing with TB!? The reason I wonder is because I have
trouble recalling anytime when only bug fixing occurs between
versions. Usually new features are being added. So there's never
really a time when you can say that a particular version contains
features that have all been tested for a long time and fully
 debugged.

You are probably right in regards to TB, that is probably why I am
still on 1.62i and didn't even jump to 1.62r. My stability meter
(quite subjective, BTW) hasn't advised this jump yet :)

Oh just jump!

Seriously I haven't kept up with TB since release. To busy with other
priorities which will be this way for some months. I was up to date with
betas up to release.

Couple of suggestions would be a separate web page on
www.silverstones.com for macro libraries with new v2 which would also
discuss the changes of macros between 1.63 beta 7 and earlier releases
to 1.63 beta 8 and later releases including v2. If you use IMAP accounts
extensively, you might to want to wait a while. This last statement is
conditional based upon the paragraph below.

I don't really use IMAP accounts even though I have a few for test

such as yourself Miguel. These may have been fixed in the release since
it is now on v2.00.6. I don't know because there has been no releases
(i.e. .txt files) of version changes to my knowledge since release of v2
on TBBETA. At least I haven't seen any postings from Stefan, and I've
been looking for them. When I try to access the old download page for
betas I get an error.

Hello Roelof,

I should elaborate on that. 2.00 has some extra macros. Those have no
function in 1.62 And some other macros have slightly different
meaning or syntax in 2.00, that's worse.

Thanks. That is what I thought and that is why I haven't even tried v2.0
yet. I do a lot of automatic and semi-automatic message processing and I
therefore use a lot (quite a lot) of templates and macros. I know that
sooner or later I will upgrade and will have to at least tweak some or
many of my templates, but I would really hate to have to come back to
1.62 and have to undo the tweaking.

If you didn't change anything in the folder structure, there is no
issue. If you did, hit ctrl-alt-shft-L after you downgrade.

WM I think I saw messages about changes, so I'm not sure.

I switched several times between the 2.00 betas and 1.62r and that
caused me no problems. The only difference is that 2.00 uses a
different file to store the folder structure. (The file's called
account.flb instead of account.flx) As long as you didn't create new
folders in 2.00 the old account.flx still contains all folder info.
Otherwise the magic key combo Ctrl-Shift-Alt-L finds your lost folders
for you.
The other issue is the changed registration info. When you're going
back to 1.62r it'll say that you're not registered, so you have to
enter the old 1.xx registration key and the belonging password.
As I mentioned, everything works alright. I changed several times
without ill effects.

Wilfrid,

If you have only POP accounts (no IMAP) then you can simply
reinstall v1.x over the top of v2 and the folders will still
work. I just did this on my test PC to see what happened. I had
no problems, no lost folders, no lost messages or anything like
that.

V1.x did become an unregistered version once more though, as the
registry still had the key for v2.0 so you'll need to make sure
you have your original v1.x reg details handy.

Reminder: Before trying this make a copy of your Mail folder as
a backup _just in case!_
