Or... if you speak VBscript and have Active Directory, you can pull down all
machines by OU and feed them into a shutdown loop.

Right, but it also lets you specify a target machine from the command line. I
shutdown or restart remote machines all the time using the shutdown command.
My point was you could write a script that loops the shutdown command
g on.

You may want to look at this app. I run it on XP, not everywhere but
in my labs for sure.
I also use it it to reboot my desktops every morning at 5:30
It runs as a service and the web site is very helpful.
