Oh, but do it as the user that actually runs GNOME, not as root. Running 'gsettings' as root will set the configuration for root, which is usually useless. -- Adam Williamson Fedora QA Community Monkey IRC: adamw | Twitter: AdamW_Fedora | XMPP: adamw AT happyassassin . net http://www.happyassassin.net ___ test mailing list -- test@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to test-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org

Technically there is a way: you just have to figure out how to change the setting for the 'gdm' user. The Alternative Fedora Wiki has something on this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GDM#DConf_configuration I think I've done it by running gsettings as 'gdm' before, though it's a bit of a pain as the account is set up by default such that you can't really switch to it. I think I either hacked up the account definition temporarily, or wrote a script that made the changes and ran the script with 'runuser'. -- Adam Williamson Fedora QA Community Monkey IRC: adamw | Twitter: AdamW_Fedora | XMPP: adamw AT happyassassin . net http://www.happyassassin.net ___ test mailing list -- test@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to test-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org

I have that set already on all my computers; these settings only apply once you are logged in to the console. The problem remains, there must be a GNOMEShell/GDM setting separate from the user power setting that applies after a reboot but before a login. The question is how to change this altered configuration setting that is nothing to do with the user. -- Russel. === Dr Russel Winder t: +44 20 7585 2200 41 Buckmaster Roadm: +44 7770 465 077 London SW11 1EN, UK w: www.russel.org.uk signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part ___ test mailing list -- test@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to test-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org

Yes. I believe mattdm wanted to have a new docs.fedoraproject.org page with end-user facing text that we can link to from gnome-software. -- Kalev ___ test mailing list -- test@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to test-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org
