This year Roots in the Cave focuses on local cave explorer Edmund Tuner
(1867-1917). Turner is credited with the discovery of Great Onyx Cave, but died

Some of you may have gotten an email like this today, seems very suspicious
since it doesn't have a personal greeting. I am going to step up to suggest
that it is a hoax and that Steve's email has been hijacked, but I could be
wrong. If so, sorry Steve! Let us hear from you if you are really

I agree that this is probably a hoax. A few months back, I received an
email almost identical to this one that was supposedly from a person,
who I knew for a fact was not on vacation over seas.

casto...@gmail.com. He's definitely been hacked. Kathy /peerman told
me that Steve is aware of the problem.

Yep, got hijacked somehow (despite lots of security).
Just got back into my account a few minutes ago as even my password was
changed by unknown sh*tbags. I am at a loss to figure out how this all
happened as various scans have revealed no intrusions of my system.

There is a scheduled second Wednesday work session of the Texas
Speleological Survey November 10th at the JJ Pickle Research Center on
Burnet Road north of highway 183. Both publication sales and the library
will be open. The door will be open at 5:00 p.m. and stay open till we

attending a seminar on the main UT campus that day, and it probably will end

Getting individual team leaders to turn in their group's reports is like
herding cats. I ended up writing up one team myself, to the best of my
ability. But her is the final report for the last trip. Enjoy!

The hijacking of Steve's gmail may have been from his gmail server instead
of at Steve's end, or perhaps even at the gypsyunderground server. Anyone
who has a gmail account or is on the gypsy list should stay aware - they may
be next.

I have just learned that the 'reply to' address in my messages was still set
to the incorrect one.
So, the first message I sent via nmcaver includes the wrong reply address.
You should see my reply address as *castolon*
The INCORRECT reply address is *castolon1* (do not reply to this...it will

I discarded the spam message that went to the nmcaver mailing list... It
was being held as the mailman software had it flagged as suspicious. This is 2
cavers in the last week that I know of that have had their email hi-jacked. I
guess the spammers are getting more brazen
