Dr. Holsinger was a student of Dr. Barr, at UKY. They visited one of my high
school caves, Lisanby Cave in west KY. The first time I met Dr. Holsinger I
told him we snuck in the cave. He said go up and meet Mrs. Lisanby as she is a
very nice lady. From then on we did that for all cave owners.
This is indeed sad news Dr Holsinger was a friend of many many Texas cavers.
He was the expert who worked on amphipods. As a fledgling cave biologist he
was the first specialist who I sent specimens to for ID. 1974 The Great Mud
Cave in Williamson county. He did the pioneering work on

According to this article the Peregrine pokes along at only 60 mph in
horizontal flight and can only hit top speed while diving; whereas, the Common
swift clocks in at 69 mph, still a bit pokey. Like the Peregrine, I believe
swifts can dive much faster than they can fly horizontally.

The last issue I received of of the Texascavers Digest was Vol 52, Issue
16 on October 25, 2018. On Nov. 2, I sent an email to the list owner
which was never answered.
Then today I received Issue 17 (dated 10/27) over a month late. I
haven't received issues 18 and beyond. This is strange.
I'm receiving a large back-log today.

Is anyone interested in these used, but really good condition appliances? I
just moved and they came with the house but I have my own W/D and don't
like coil stoves. The washer & dryer are front load Maytags, and the range
is a 30 inch Whirlpool. All are white and electric.
All three for $150.

Congratulations to this year's TSS Survey Contest winners!
We had a challenging course this year at the Texas Cavers Reunion, and
three teams decided to take it on. Aubri Jenson (assisted by Dale
Barnard) made the first place, with a loop closure error of 1.88 meters,
winning a set of Suunto
There will be a work day at the new Texas Speleology Center (TSC) this Saturday
Nov 3. Come check out this new caver facility which will be the headquarters
for TSS, TCMA, and AMCS! The work activities are still being planned but may
include cedar clearing, exterior panelling repair, exterior
Louise was very active here on the mailing list and will be missed. We are
diminished as a group.
Sadly, I never got to meet her, but felt like I knew her from talking via
cavetex.
