I think I forgot to mention that the big light that the caver
suddenly had in the cave runs off of 120 volt AC system, and
is not cordless, so they would have needed a generator,
or a big battery pack with inverter.

Some of you that once traveled south are familiar with the caving area around
Huasteca Canyon.
According to yesterday's news,
in the area of la Huasteca, that authorities arrested 2 people that were
cooking 20 people. The article was very vague as usual.
Another article said the bodies
are you supposed to know how to keep a
watchful eye ?Nor does the article in any way refer the tourist to
the best up to date news sites on the web related to the narco-crime.
It seems designed more to please the Mexican Government, and not
hurt their feelings.

Is this the Bill Stephens that was instrumental in helping with the
cable-ladder contest at TCR back in the mid to late 80's ? I think that
guy also won lots of cable-ladder contest, and taught lots of kids and
newbie cavers how to properly climb a cable-ladder.
A caver from San Francisco had an accident at his hotel at the beginning of
ICS.
He is recuperating at home now after having had hip surgery.
It was about a week after the accident before the surgery.
Another caver from England broke his wrist while dancing at ICS.
In New Zealand, jetpack researchers have received permission to begin human
test flights of the jetpack shown in the link here.
It can hover up to 5,000 feet, but human test will be restricted to 20 feet.
Military/Search Rescue will be able to purchase them in 2014 for $
250,000.
