Dear Drew,
Thanks for your tribute to Ernie Garza, which I am sharing on the
TexasCavers list. You can see a longer biography of Ernie at

I traveled with Ernie to the Texas Caver Reunion in 2018, and we had good
discussions about caves, people, and books. I
Thanks, Bill.

It's getting to look like a Memory Garden at the Texas Caving Center may be
worth considering for the spreading and comingling of cavers past.

Thank you Nancy. I think a celebration at TCR would be very appropriate
because Ernie loved to be around lots of people!

I will miss Ernie Garza, friend to many and a man of many talents. We
traveled to the 2018 Texas Caver Reunion together, but I did not get to see
him much since then. Some of us have compiled a biography of Ernie, still
in the making. Hasta luego Ernie.

I’m going to miss his general enthusiasm for everything. Ernie was on the first
multi-flash photography trip I ever took - by virtue of having another flash &
being willing to use it to help me set up shots, the whole way through the
cave, for about 5 hours. Thanks Viv for being there with him,
Everyone is popular when needed. One measure of a person's quality is how many
people are there to offer comfort, help, love, and respect when that person is
beyond giving back even more than a smile. Ernie's quality was high indeed.

Bill's story about Ernie Garza reminded me of a similar story concerning
Australian Rolf Adams (RIP). We were on a trip to Mexico in my school
bus with a bunch of other Texas cavers. Rolf had inexplicably lost his
passport, but he was blond and super Anglo-looking. The only problem was

Ernie is a great guy.He has offered to let me camp on his property
numerous times.He even let
me stay for free in his camper. How many cavers would do that ?
Especially those that know me ( LOL ! ).
Ernie has a real toilet inside of his house. Not one of those kind of
toilets
Ernie has a lot of Dr appts coming up, but would love a phone call 512.847.0183
or email. and when he gets home from surgery would really love a visit.
