FLOWER –പൂവ്

2021-02-15 Thread 'gopala krishnan' via Thatha_Patty

FLOWER –പൂവ്

Dear friends,

This write up on flowers is a generalthinking. Flowers are very beautiful to
see. Smelling flowers are more attractive. There could be no person who cannot
enjoycolourfull and smelling flowers. When I saw Brindavan Gardens in 1981’s I
reallygot astonished. Similarly two year back the botanical gardens at Ooty.

I was 2nd head of the teamto decide the Best Telephone exchange awarding
committee from 1998 to 2003 inKerala. Gardening andpremises cleanliness was one
of the major items to be seen. Thiscreated in me later gardening interest in my
home and surely on upkeeping.

If we talked of some floweringdetails in some premises visited, mostly others
tried to do better about theirgarden and premises. So if circumstances are
there many may automatically getabsorbed to gardening. Ihad seen very beautiful
gardening and up keeping at Tiruvalla. Nowseeing the soap “Pattusari” in
mazhavil manorama, I presume mostly shoot in thearea gives very beautiful up
keeping and gardens.

We may be anxious to see the flowersin plants which would give vegetables and
fruits. Sometimes a plant may flowerall on a sudden. One thing I have observed
is, if I talk something about aplant not flowering or about to flower, others
in the house also are curious ofthe same. I really have enjoyed this aspect.

Many flowers are taken for worshipingin the temples. Certain flowers are
regional liking. Till I was in hill stationin early 1973’s in Kodaikkanal, to
say frankly I was not knowing flowers (Many flowers?) would not smellin hill
stations. It was something new to understand so.

Most flowers are meant for reproduction. On account of this, we should not pluck
more than 50% flowers from the plant. Most temples have nandavanam (Flower
garden). This provides the flowerrequirement of the temples.  Flowers
forpersonal use are cultivated and now a day for the temples also. I have
learnt Sreerangam has abig nandavanam in Tamilnadu. Let me continue some
interesting aspectsabout Flowers.

Sincerely,

Gopala Krishnan 27-11-2013.

1.Mullakkal Devi temple

One day evening Chempakasseri rajawas strolling along the gardens. He observed
some persons moving anddisappearing near the jasmine gardens. He could feel it
could be the Vanadevatha. Accordingly atemple was constructed for her in that
area which is the famous MULLAI KAL Devi temple in theheart of Alleppy city.
The sanctum has no covering at the roof.

2.Poomootal at Kadampuzha.

Kadampuzhais in between Palghat and Malappuram close to Malappuram. In the
afternoon pooja Poomootal isperformed after all Muttarukkal offerings are done.
I have once attended thepoomootal pooja.

KadampuzhaDevi is also Vanadevatha. The speciality with the temple is the night
pooja is performed very early, thebelief is Devi may wander in the gardens
later. Here red flower Thetti is used for Poomootal.

Advance booking is required for theoffering done on specified days. There could
be devotees waiting for years for the offering.

3.Aandal and Vishnu chitthan

Vishnuchittan was a devotionalBrahmin. Every day morning he would pluck flowers
from the temple garden, givefor pooja in the SriVilliputhur Vishnu temple and
also prepare garland foradorning Vishnu. Aandal was his adopted daughter. After
preparing the garlandhe would keep in the house to give in time to the temple.
When he was away Aandal used towear it and see herself and keep it back.

One day Vishnuchitthan came to knowof it. He felt guilty he was giving the
garland after worn by his daughter, unknowingly. An asaree (Divine voice) heard-
I like to wear the garlands after worn by Aandal. Vishnuchitthan became
happy.Afterwards it was a practice to give garlands to the deity after worn
byAandal.

The legend is at marriageable time Aandal wanted to marry Sri Ranganatha of
Sree rangam, and as per divine order she wastaken there with all decorations
and Vadyams as for marriage in a processionfrom Srivilliputhur. They neared the
temple and Aandal got in and when she neared sanctum she gotmerged to
Ranganatha.

4.Parijatham Poothulanja neelaravil…

The origin of parijatham is relatedwith the churning of milky ocean. When
Parijatham tree came up the allotterBrahma gave it to plant in Indra’s garden.
Hence parijathambecame a Devaloka plant. Parijatham is also called Pavizhamalli.

One day a parijatha flower wasbrought by Narada to Sathyabhama from Devaloka.
She got attracted to thefragrance and desired Krishna to have the plant in her
garden also.

Krishna, not in very good terms withIndra on account of Govardhanagiri
incident, somehow to please Sathyabhamastarted to Indra’s palace.*** ButIndra
diplomatically received Krishna and consented to take a plant to Bhooloka.
Krishna brought it, as desiredplanted in Sathyabhama’s garden, but flowers fall
in Rukmini’s garden,satisfying both.

Q1 How can you bring down LDL cholesterol naturally?

A1  Ray Schilling UpdatedNovember 19-2020 Blogger, retired physician
and cancer researcher.(2010–present)

Not all LDL cholesterol comesfrom food. The majority is synthesized in your
liver. The biggest factor is consumption of refinedsugar, starchy food
(potatoes, rice, pasta, bread and muffins etc.) andprocessed food.
Whateversugar is not stored in your liver and muscles as glycogen gets
metabolized bythe liver into triglycerides and LDL cholesterol. This ends up as
fat in yourabdominal fat and in your arteries causing hardening of your
arteries.

I cut out sugar, starchy foods and wheat in 2001 and lost 50 pounds ofweight in
3 months. So did my wife (she lost 50 pounds also). We never regained that
lostweight, because we have been consistent about keeping refined sugar, starchy
foods and processed food out of our diet. We follow a Mediterranean-typediet.

There are a number of healthyfoods that will lower LDL cholesterol for you. 11
foods that lower cholesterol - HarvardHealth. Oats, barley, nuts, egg plant and
Okra, soy, fatty fish and fibersupplements (like psyllium husk). In addition
the pectin content of apples, grapes, strawberries and citrus fruits helps to
lower LDL cholesterol.

Pectin and fiber helps toreduce LDL cholesterol by interfering with the
enterohepatic circulation of gallbladder fluid. Enterohepatic circulation -
WikipediaThe end result is thatmore cholesterol is excreted in the patient’s
stool and the LDL cholesterol inthe blood is lowered.

The other factor beside paying attention to what you eat is to engage in
regular physicalexercise. This increases your protective HDL cholesterol and
reduces theoverall cholesterol ratio, the risk of getting a heart attack.
WhatIs Cholesterol Ratio and Why Does It Matter?

Substitute saturated fat with olive oil. The monounsaturated fatty acidsin
olive oil have been shown to lower LDL
cholesterol.http://ttps://health.howstuffworks.com/diseases-conditions/cardiovascular/cholesterol/foods-that-lower-cholesterol6.htm.Also
substitute high fat milk products with low fat milk products. Eliminateall
trans fat products from your diet (margarine, fast foods).

Here is my answer to your question: “How do I naturally lower myLDL
cholesterol?” The biggest step, as mentioned above is to cut out refinedsugar,
starchyfoods and processed food. But in addition as the Harvard Health letter
stated, there are 11 other foods that can help to reduce LDL cholesterol. Pectin
andfiber interfere with the enterohepatic circulation lowering LDL. But you
must also pay attention to balancing LDL with HDL, whichwill lower your
cardiovascular risk factor when you exercise regularly. Finally, get rid of
trans fats(margarine and fast foods) and cut out high saturated fat foods (like
milkproducts) with low saturated fat milk products.

Q2 When was Lord Krishna first introduced in the Mahabharata? What were
his first words?

A2   Bhanu Kiran February 8-2021-Mahabharata(Hindu epic) · Exploring ancient
texts of Sanatana Dharma

In Mahabharata, Lord Krishna was first introduced in theswayamvara of Draupadi.
His first words were to Balarama. Krishna introduces Pandavas toBalarama who
were in the disguise of Brahmins. The first conversationbetween Krishna and
Pandavas occurs after the swayamvara was completed. In thebelow quote, chief
among the Yadus means Krishna and Rama means Balarama.

The chiefs among the Yadus, always devoted to Krishna, were also
there, witnessing it. On seeing the five Pandavas, like elephants in rut that
had cometo a lake full of lotuses, like a fire covered with ashes, the chief of
theYadus began to wonder. He told Rama, “That is Yudhishthira. That is Bhima
and that is Jishnu and those arethe valorous twins.” Glancing at them
leisurely, Rama cast a pleasedglance at Janardana.

Q1 Which is one of the trusted herbal remedies for diabetesproblems?

A1  Sem Sophie Joshua December3-2020 Worked at Diabetes

Seven herbs and supplements fortype 2 diabetes

Diabetes is a lifelong condition that affects the blood sugar and insulinlevels
in the body. Treatment includes lifestyle strategies and sometimesmedication,
but somecomplementary therapies, such as herbs and supplements, may help.

In diabetes, the body eitherdoes not produce enough insulin or produces insulin
that the body does not useproperly.

Herbs and supplements will not cure diabetes and do not constitute astandalone
treatment, but somemay combine with conventional treatment to provide relief
from symptoms andreduce the risk of complications.

Here are seven herbs and supplements that may be of benefit to peoplewith type
2 diabetes.

1. Aloe vera

Aloe vera is a common plant with many different uses. Many people areaware of
its benefits for skin care, but it may also have other benefits, including
slowing the progress of type 2 diabetes.

Findings suggested that aloe vera might help protect and repair the betacells
in the pancreas that produce insulin. The researchers believed this mightbe due
to aloe’s antioxidant effects.

The researchers called for more research into aloe and its extracts to besure
of these effects.

Ways of taking aloe include:

adding juiced pulp to a drink or smoothie

taking capsules that contain aloe as supplements

My note- I could gather from awork man that there are two varieties of Aloe
vera. One is edible and other not edible. One has tobe caaautious.

2. Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a fragrant spice that comes from the bark of a tree. It is apopular
ingredient in sweets, baked goods, and other dishes.

It has a taste that can add sweetness without any additional sugar. It
ispopular with people with type 2 diabetes for this reason alone, but it may
alsooffer other benefits.

3. Bitter melon

Momordica charantia, or bitter melon, is a medicinal fruit. Practitionersof
traditional Chinese and Indian medicine have used bitter melon forcenturies.
People cancook the fruit and use it in many dishes. Some scientists have
beenlooking into its potential medicinal uses.

There is some evidence thatbitter melon may help with the symptoms of diabetes.
One review has noted that people have used many parts of the plantto help treat
diabetes.

4. Milk thistle

People have used milk thistle since ancient times for many differentailments,
and especially as a tonic for the liver.

Silymarin, the extract frommilk thistle that has received the most attention
from scientists, is acompound with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory
properties. These are the properties that may make milkthistle a useful herb
for people with diabetes.

5. Fenugreek

Fenugreek is another seed that may help lower blood sugar levels. Theseeds
contain fibers and chemicals that help to slow down the digestion
ofcarbohydrates and sugar.

There is also some evidence that the seeds may help delay or prevent theonset
of type 2 diabetes.

6. Gymnema

Gymnema sylvestre is a herb that comes from India. Its name means
“sugardestroyer.”

Other tests using gymnema found that people with type 2 diabetesresponded well
to both the leaf and its extract over various periods.

Some people experienced: lower blood sugar levels

higher insulin levels

Using either the ground leaf or leaf extract may be beneficial. But once again,
talk to your doctor about using it before starting.

7. Ginger

Ginger is another herb that people have used for thousands of years
intraditional medicine systems.

People often use ginger to help treat digestive and inflammatory issues.

However, the researchers were uncertain as to how ginger might do this, and they
called for more research to confirm these findings.

People can take ginger:

by adding ginger powder or chopped, fresh ginger root to raw or cookedfood.
brewed into tea

as a supplement in capsule form and by drinking it in a ginger ale

My note- Always take doctor’s advice beforeconsuming any  of the above items
told

A2  Girija Devi SushangAgnihotri Updated August 8, 2020 Knows Gujarati

No, the civilization of Indiais very much developed since ancient times. You
will find small rooms in old palaces which used to be toilets. Bundi is the
royal toilet of theRajasthan Fort. This toilet was used only by the royal
family. Thiswas a very convenient parent toilet.

Not only this, toiletshave also been found in the excavation of Indus Valley
Civilization about 5000years ago or in 3100 BC. Both flush toilets and
non-flush toiletshave been found in excavated toilets. Drains have also been
found which were used to clear thewaste.
