[tw5] Re: MArkdown plugin and tables?

2018-07-23 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
I believe you need to set "$:/config/markdown/dialect" to Maruku. Then
follow the formatting documentatin at

https://michelf.ca/projects/php-markdown/extra/

I don't know whether there are any downsides of this. The problem with
markdown is that you have to give up all the features of TW to use it. So I
stick with TW.

[tw5] Re: Quotes and Minimum Information Units as Tiddlers

2018-07-23 Thread Diego Mesa
I agree Mario - having multiline fields will not solve this conceptual
problem - the problem being the relationship between titles and content in
a minimum information unit framework.

The solution might not be multiline fields, instead its some way to
*specify* and *access* some kind of "sub structure" of a tiddler.

In a quote framework, I dont like the *idea* of having to come up with some
unique title to specify each quote. I'd rather have a quotes *database*
(tiddler) with *rows* (fields? bullet points in the text field?) that I can
access outside that tiddler in a sensible way.

Right now, I'd have to come up with some contrived way to have
meaningful but unique tiddler titles, and use *tags* to specify that these
are all really *rows* of the quotes tiddler.

Just popping by very quickly to inform that the newtids
macro has been improved to handle items in
the list without the need for surrounding brackets.

I.e you just copy-paste from your excel or word document into the macrocall
like so. Rows with spaces are no problem:

Note:
The code (which as usual is 100% wikitext because that's all I know) has a
few really hackey parts due to TWs limited filter operators to manipulate
strings. Over the years, this has been a recurring problem for me.

What I'm really looking for it a way to embed the link by default in the
"template" used to build the modal display, so that *all* my modal windows
can have a default link to open the tiddler (for editing/manipulaton) in
the story river. I'd like to be able to wrap the displayed title (drawn
from the subtitle field of the tiddler displayed in the wizard or, if
that's unavailable, from the title field) in *<$link>* or add an *edit*
button.

Perhaps explain a little more what you want to do.

To respond to you open question, here are a few notes

 - Drag and drop images or use the import button to get them into
 tiddlywiki
 - Research the canonical uri and more for referencing external images
 - Add an icon field to any tiddler and provide an Icon tiddler title for
it to display with the title
 - Transclude an image tiddler in your tiddlers text imagetiddler
 - Use the image widget https://tiddlywiki.com/#ImageWidget
 - Or follow these wikitext
 instructions https://tiddlywiki.com/#Images%20in%20WikiText

2018-07-23 Thread TonyM
Ahh I see,

Of course this may need to be toggled because some users of a wiki need not
have that ability.

I will defer to others to answer your question, as I am less familiar with
using modals (at this point)

However in the past I had the convention of ending Tiddlers I may need to
edit with tiddlername, and in the view template it is trivial to
create an edit link to the current tiddler.

And you can transclude the edit button

Tony

There is no need to create a new-here button. The plugin contains a
"new-child-here" button. You just need to activate it!

Open the the tiddler info-area: tools-tab ... There are 2 elements with

When you start with TiddlyWiki, the tiddler title is "plain text". ...
That's a good thing, because it's simple.

- Plain text titles tend to be long. ...
- That's why they may not fit nicely into TOCs
- So why we introduced the "caption" field.

That's a good solution, but it already increases complexity. ... Users need
to know about the caption field, and where the core UI automagically uses
it.
eg: lists, tabs, ... and so on.

At the moment that's as far as "the core UI" goes.
---

Using plugins, you can go further. ... Using plugins is a "user decision"
... So advanced users know, what they are doing ;)

The uni-link plugin allows
you to use the "caption" and "subtitle"-field to be shown instead of a
tiddler link without breaking backwards compatibility.

The alias-function goes even further, it allows you to reference a tiddler,
by a completely different alias-name.

It abstracts away the "tiddler-title", by *signifacally increasing
complexity*. eg:

- a lot more documentation is needed
- a new ? is needed ... (still not breaking backwards
compatibility)
- new javscript code is needed to speed things up.
- ViewTemplate extensions are needed to identify alias tiddler (see
alias-footer)
- new link-colors are introduced to make alias links visible for users
- ...

At the moment that's as fare as uni-link goes

Creating a new theme can go even further: eg: slant-01
is an opinionated theme.

I use it as a starting point for my TWs (+ a lot of my other plugins
)

- It scales down the tiddler title in the view-template, to make it less
dominant.
- This allows me to use real h1-headings in the tiddler content.
- This makes tiddler content reusable
- Especially in combination with the new upcomming
tv-adjust-heading-level

variable it will be a "killer"
- The tiddler title is nothing but an identifier anymore.
- Once it is defined, it will never be changed again
 - having good tiddler names is hard !!
 - that's just a convention.
- my tiddler titles need to be human readable (so UUIDs are a no go!)
- my tiddler titles (should) create nice URL links.
 - eg: https://wikilabs.github.io/editions/slant-01/#01-slant-01-theme
 - this rule will be broken, if the use-case needs it!

In combination with uni-link and the alias function I think it's almost
possible to eliminate tiddler titles.

BUT

to fully eleimnate them, the theme would need to be expanded quite a bit.
... Which is *complex *;)

just some thougts

have fun!

[tw5] tm-new-tiddler and tags parameter

2018-07-23 Thread Mohammad
I want to add two tags at the same time for a new tiddler created by
tm-new-tiddler as follow

<$button >
<$action-sendmessage $message="tm-new-tiddler"
title="Title"
text="some text..."
tags="slide "
/>
New Tiddler

but it does not work!

I used $text widget but no success!

[tw5] Re: tm-new-tiddler and tags parameter

2018-07-23 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
Whenever you need to concatenate strings (as you do with the tags) you
almost always need to use a macro.

\define mybutton(param)
<$button>
New Tiddler
<$action-sendmessage $message="tm-new-tiddler"
title="Title"
text="some text..."
tags="slide $param$"
/>

\end

<$macrocall $name="mybutton" param=/>

[tw5] Re: Tiddlywiki Keyboard Navigation

2018-07-23 Thread BurningTreeC
I found that I only need one Mode - I call it select mode.

I activate it using alt-S. When it activates it sets some keyboard
shortcuts active (adds the tag $:/tags/KeyboardShortcut to the already
created action-tiddlers ... leaving select-mode disables these shortcuts)
these keyboard shortcuts have single letters assigned: E for editing, C for
closing/cancelling, D for deleting, Y for cloning tiddlers. These shortcuts
automatically also leave select-mode.
Left/J/K navigates to the previous tiddler in the story river,
Right/L/Backquote navigates to the next

I find this really handy and it works just with the keeboord plugin, no
other dependencies needed
I think it'd be good to make the tiddler-edit-button leave edit-mode in
case it's on, so that one can instantly start typing without having to
press Escape first

If you like it, let me know what you think

Ciao BTC

Thanks!

The FF ESR problem is not, I think, worth the effort. Forget it. Partly my
fault for not clicking around in other version first. The ESR is currently
catching up with the main release so, it too, will move on.

About your issue with firefox-esr and the red javascript error-screen - I
won't be able to solve that as it seems to be a firefox bug. I hope that at
