  Click More.../TW/Tags/systemConfig

In there you can find MptwUserConfigPlugin

This is where save backups and autosave get switched on. So to change
them you should uncomment and adjust the code as required in that
  tiddler, then save and reload.

There is also MptwConfigPlugin, MgtdConfPlugin, and
MgtdUserConfPlugin. The 'User' versions of these are not updated when
you do an update, while the non-user ones are.

So, if you haven't done so already, look to see if there is a

This is something we really ought to get in the wiki or help for the

[tw] Question: Inline expansion of tiddler links?

2010-03-10 Thread Shankar

I have a tiddler with links to other tiddlers in it. When I click on
those links, they open up as separate tiddlers. That is what I would
expect, and for me, that is good most times.

But there are occasions, when I would rather see the linked tiddlers
open up within the contained tiddler.

Is there a version of TiddlyWiki that implements anything close to
this feature?

Thanks!

Hi Shankar

It sounds like you want the slide macro (http://tiddlywiki.org/wiki/
Slider) or perhaps the NestedSlidersPlugin from tiddlytools.com.

I hope not to overwhelm you with all the possibilities - however I
will mention a few more options:
Popups, sliders or menus are some of the possible containers for the
tiddler macro:

If you want a popup there are at least two more to choose from:
1) http://tw.lewcid.org/#PopupMacroDocs and Tobias' mod:
http://tbgtd.tiddlyspor.com/#PopupMacro
and
2) http://tw.lewcid.org/#AnnotationsPlugin and Tobias' mod:
http://tbgtd.tiddlyspot.com/#jQueryPopup.

Wolfgang has extended Eric's NestedSlidersPlugins functionality, in
his http://menuflex.tiddlyspot.com. He uses
http://tw.lewcid.org/#AccordionMenuPlugin,
which he also showcases in his menuflexdocument..

Hi Måns

Loading the TW from a CD works fine. The TW is just another file for
the browser, after all.
The toolbar looked normal and included edit. Reading the file from a
CD did not have the same effect as loading from http.

When I tried to edit the TW and save the changes, then there were
security messages about the script and an error message when the file
save attempt failed.

 Does it generate error message??
I believe that it should just show see instead of edit - as if it

 It might work..

or I would install Eric's SwitchThemePlugin

and create a readonlyTheme with a custom pagetemplate without
sideBarOptions and a ViewTemplate without the editbutton or I would
 use BidiX's News

which has 3 themes/modes: Reader, Author and Default - it opens up in
Readermode without any toolbar or menus...

There are even more ways to do it - I don't remember where I read

capabilities just by writing the correct username??!!

Please have a look in the threads and see for yourself - TiddlyWiki IS
a *userdefinable mini relational databasesystem that's all contained

I've just made my own media database, from all kinds of plugins, CSS

(it's in Danish - however I've put a google translate button in the

I primarily refer to tagglytaggin in MPTWs viewtemplate. Actually, for
my main notebook TW I've even included tagglytagging in my edit
template.
I also like that you have greater control of how the tags are
displayed compared with vanilla. Multi columns often and occasionally
the sitemap mode. For a semi-public TW of mine, the display is really
used as the primary menu in the default tiddler (no left side menu for
that particular TW, it is supposed to be very plain).

While at it - here are two things that would turn it from great into
incredible;
* I think the rolling menu options are a bit confusing. A drop down
menu would probably be clearer. Or even just displaying the current
status as opposed to the next status. Particular confusion arises when
choosing commas, effectively (and naturally) hiding the cols option;
Suddenly it's unclear which of the menu items I'm clicking on - the
third or second one from right?
* Also, TagglyTagging could easily become the menu of choice if there
was a view, similar to sitemap view, that had sliders for each branch
(not content) and perhaps a newTiddler button (perhaps a small +
sign) after each item to create a pre-tagged new tiddler. (TreeView is
IMO a very decent attempt at a similar end result)

[tw] Ra-ta-ta-ta-...

2010-03-10 Thread twgrp
Some existing solutions and some imagine if's...;

TW automatically recognizing non CamelCase) text strings to be inks.
(exists: ref Auto Weaving, http://weave.tiddlyspot.com/
and thread
http://groups.google.com/group/TiddlyWiki/browse_thread/thread/f91e45b7c2a6e021
)

Creating a link/tag in text by merely adding a # sign in front of it
(ref. someones thread I read but cannot find it now)

Generally putting a user defined sign or string in front of a word or
a link instead of intricate macro markup. E.g
Here is a s:slider in a sentence (i.e the s:) would be the same
thing as that complex slider command (but of course at the cost of
using default values for whatever is not defined).

Renaming tags auto-updates all occurences of that tag
(exists: http://mptw.tiddlyspot.com/#RenameTagsPlugin )

...but also auto-updates their mention in texts. (It should be
possible because already now, under the tiddler menu, there's
references that identifies all text occurences of links in the
texts)

Notifications of updated plugins. If not automatic then some command
to scatter pings to the given source-addresses that are provided in
the plugin source fields.

A pluign, installing an update button build into all other plugins.
Or a update button next to each plugin listed in the plugin table.

A hovering tiddler menu effectively cutting out the need to scroll
just to reach the done button.
(compare HoverMenuPlugin for the whole document)

Tagging a tiddler PlainText causing it to be directly editable in
view mode, rather than always being forced to enter edit mode.
(note: somewhat possible with FormTiddlerPlugin adding a text area.)

Double clicking at a certain point in text and have the cursor at that
point when the edit mode opens.
(ref: I know I've have seen something like this but can't find where.)

A combo of IncludePlugin and ExportTiddlersPlugin to import a copy of
a tiddler from an external TW and then to, via a tiddlermenu command,
force-feed that edited copy back, effectively reducing filesize and
speed.

Tag-by-drag-n-drop

See the computers file and folder structure in TW and link tiddlers
directly to items in there. (Combo with LaunchApplicationPlugin)

A folder in the browser window, where any 'browser-tab' is dragged
creates a tiddler in TW (tagged with e.g bookmark and the webpages
name). As far as I know, the main way to get bookmarks into TW
currently is via copy-paste.
(related:
http://groups.google.com/group/tiddlywiki/browse_thread/thread/8245b6b49eb30253/0dc263a5f00747c3#0dc263a5f00747c3
)

Instead of this google groups forum, a combo of a forum and a wiki so
that good answers, particularly to FAQs, could be more properly stored
and gradually refined. (The separation of discussion board here and
tw.org there is clearly not working very well). A bit ironic
considering that the very topic is information management LOL

A suggest-and-vote feature where anyone can suggest, request and
notify on bugs etc and anyone can vote on what are good such
suggestions. Doesn't mean anyone will actually solve or code anything,
but currently there is no consistent way to indicate what non-
programming users consider important.
(example, for monkeyGTD now renamed to mGSD;
http://github.com/simonbaird/monkeygtd/issues
)

A way to link into/onto strings and things in external applications.
For instance; it is possible to embed excel in TW via googledocs and
iframes, but the data therein is of course not linkable. If it was
you'd get the full power of both tools at the same time...

After closing the lowermost tiddler, automatically focus on the now
lowermost tiddler. Currently you get to stare into a wall and scroll
up manually.

A tiddler menu at the bottom of each tiddler, again to avoid scrolling
(minor but oh so often).
(easily taken care of by copy-pasting the menu in the view and edit
templates... and while there you can switch places for the tiddler
title and the (top) tiddler menu)

.
..
.
