One of the objectives for several tw ebooks/apps is to have the user ADD their own content even when the TW is d"disarmed" from editing access. This would immensely handy for users / readers / viewers in maintaining notes to "self", journal entries, ToDo lists even a basic "bookmarking" note...

You could try adding an extra action-setfield widget after clearing the input. I think that is how I got around this problem before. Add <$action-setfield $tiddler='$:/temp/NewTagName' tags=''/> after everything else and see if that triggers a refresh that will put the correct input in the text
