[tw5] Compression of embedded images

2019-11-08 Thread Mal
Tiddlywiki Folks,

I have a non-technical Tiddlywiki user with large (30-40MB) wikis of study
notes containing lots of embedded images. Ideally, I would like to provide
a simple method of optimising these images during the process of dragging
and dropping into the wiki. Are there any good ideas out there for
streamlining this process?

I know there are various on-line sites for image conversion and
optimisation, like https://image.online-convert.com/convert-to-webp, and
browsers also have some in-built image manipulation capability.

A plugin that automatically converted images when dropped into tiddlywiki
would be ideal, but I fear this is a bit above my level of browser,
javascript and Tiddlywiki knowledge.

In the past, I have used a simple bash script to run through the image
files in a node.js implementation of the wikis and convert png images to
jpg. This provides some substantial reductions in Tiddlywiki file sizes.
However, it would be much cleaner to do the optimisation at the point of
adding the images to the wiki, preferably with some options related to
resulting quality and size.

I would love to read your thoughts on this.

Regards,

Mal

2019-11-08 Thread Birthe C
Hi Steve,

I think you should get tiddlyclip from https://github.com/buggyj/tiddlyclip
scroll down and read the explanation and get tiddlyclip-0.1.2-an.fx.xpi

That works for me in Firefox 70.01. (I am not using Windows 10, but this is
a Firefox question).

2019-11-08 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
@Birthe -- I thought your comment made perfect sense!

What I thought you meant was that the tiddlers have to open in the story
river. That is a draw-back to this approach. You have to open each
potential tiddler to see the context. It's still handy, of course.

It is obvious that we have to have the tiddler text visible to see the

[tw5] Re: Best method to update date fields in tiddlers?

2019-11-08 Thread Jesse Racine
My idea is to have the due-dates shown by using the
https://tiddlywiki.com/static/days%2520Operator.html days filter. The days
filter can filter on any field which has a date in it (provided that the
date is put in a specific format). So the plan is that the task tiddlers
will have their duedate field in the proper date format that TiddlyWiki can
recognize, and then the filter will work to show upcoming due tasks.
