I wonder how much such an environment would improve time-nut equipment
performance and measurements? They claim a 2-3x resolution increase in a STM.

In looking at the threads and putting away the Austron catalog I realized I
have a 2100 pdf with schematics.
Its 8.9 MB so will send it to the Diddiers KO4BB site tonight.

A lack of precision in that last email from me it seems.
I was planning on using a DDS and re-purposed multiplier board to provide
the 1.5Ghz LO, but as the time server needs to use the 10MHz signal to
compensate for phase shift this won't necessarily work out as you have

Yes, I picked up the correct OCXO, from the same eBay seller (Massachusetts)
that earlier sold NOS MTI units. Cross referenced the part number from earlier

The ovens are as you say $25 each and shipping for either 1 or 2 is $18.75.

I picked up one of these from the usual site, and it is supposed to be

It is the type with a 5v amplifier in it from what I was told, and is
working.

My understanding is that MVAR(m*tau0) is equivalent to filtering the phase
samples x(n) by averaging m samples to produce x'(n)
[x'(n)=1/m*(x(n)+x(n+1)..x(n+m-1))] and then calculating AVAR for
tau=m*tau0 on the filtered sequence. Thus, MVAR already performs an
averaging/ lowpass filtering

Hi Mike,
The Rb lamp voltage is just a guide. If your Rb isn't working, then it
is important... If it is, it is just a guide.
If your bulb is clear, and it is glowing, it is probably also working.
I seem to recall from HP's descriptions of how their 5065 was made

The TymServe TS2100 arrived this afternoon. So I started with the GPS receiver

If you build a single conversion front end as you suggest, then the LO will
be 1500 MHz and low side injection causing a 180 degree phase flip.
Hopefully not a real issue.
The thing I ran into when I built my solution is that front end LO had to
be locked to the 10 Mhz out of the Austron.
Greg,
I did both those upgrades a few weeks ago and have been very pleased with
the results. Desoldering the TCXO is a bit tricky and takes some
patience. I do not have the widget board in my TS-2100 so I'm not much
help there.
I assume you already have your OCXO...The correct one is a bit
Hi
In the (unique) case of the Efratom “light bulb” cell, you can indeed pop them
out and replace them. Been there / done that with the (then) factory guys
involved.
The new bulbs were sold as replacements and did indeed fix the problem of
a dead bulb. About the only added work involved was to

There are a *lot* of possible ways a pendulum can synchronize. In
reality, there may be multiple cases with different mechanisms. The gotcha
