Turn the unit off, disconnect the antenna, turn the unit on, issue the date
command, turn unit off, connect antenna, turn unit on. The DATE command is
only accepted if it has not started tracking satellites. The date will
probably be wrong until it starts tracking sats again long enough

i apologize if this has been discussed already somewhere else.
I turned off my Z3811A/3812A (Lucent KS-24361 pair) for a week to move the
lab and when I turned it on again the date got stuck back in February 1997.
Everything else works fine, except that the date is wrong.
