Turn the unit off, disconnect the antenna, turn the unit on, issue the date command, turn unit off, connect antenna, turn unit on. The DATE command is only accepted if it has not started tracking satellites. The date will probably be wrong until it starts tracking sats again long enough to get the almanac.
BTW, Z3801A's are saying the leap second will occur a 00:00:00 UTC today (25 minutes from now).
