flex cable.

5065A Repair - Progress...
As I wrote in an earlier mail, the restored 5065A
died (slowly), dropping the 2nd Harmonic reading
below 10 after which it lost lock.
I could not see any o/p signal coming from A7
so in a moment of confusion, I opened the Rb cavity
RX part to see if there was a loose
The second scrapped 5065 that I manage to acquire could perhaps be braughtback
to life. I already have a supply of electrolytic capacitors but I have my
doubtsabout the 1.33K resistor that is used in the RV TX assy. It maintains the
original value, but the protective surface is gone.

It was an early unit but a later one than the one I amtrying to fix.
The XO was gone. From what I could see, it had beena 10811 type with adapter
since there was no 115V wiring.

There was something wrong in the A7 (AC Amplifier assembly).
DC balance of the input stage was completely off-scale
and one of the 1854-0023 transistors had an open junction.Luckily I had a small
supply of them but I also discovered that
the OP-Amps
2nd Harmonic level has gone down from 18 to 14 in a few hours.Needle is nervous
in the way that it wiggles about one needle-widthin a random but slow pace.
All other readings are stable.
Rotating the knob back and forth restores the previous readings.
