For heaven's sake don't try to power equipment from a trickle charger. The thing may be more like a current source than a voltage source. Also it may not be isolated from the safety ground, which would rule out connecting several in series. A good power supply is so crucial to happiness and

Maybe a nice, quiet open-frame linear like Mouser part number 784-HB48-0.5-AG. But a model with a bit more current would be better. On Wed, Oct 28, 2020 at 6:57 PM jimlux wrote: > The 48-ish volt power supply for my Z3801 gave up the ghost.. > > What's the latest in off-the-shelf power

Jim I think anything will do. Internally it hits a bunch of switchers that convert to the internal needs. One funny thing I have run into is that switchers do not always like feeding switchers. Or perhaps a larger switcher to handle the startup current is the trick. I believe on the back of the

Look at PoE or whatever it's called type supplies - I think the standard is 48 VDC for power over ethernet. I don't know if any of the ones for this purpose are big enough to run the Z3801 though. 48 V is a very common supply, so it should be easy to find an open frame OEM supply. If size and

I built a 48 volt discrete linear supply into my Z3801 about 18 years ago. Still works fine. It was a tight squeeze but managed to fit it in behind the front panel. I replaced the plug on the back with a standard 3 pin socket assembly. I also replaced the top cover with fine coper screen to get

The 48-ish volt power supply for my Z3801 gave up the ghost.. What's the latest in off-the-shelf power supplies (external is fine, uncased is fine)? There were plenty of suggestions on the list a few years back, and I can pick one of those up, but hey, someone else might have walked this
