Hi Max! Thanks for the information, I was wondering if you had documented what
you did to your Raspberry Pi so that it might be reproducible to someone like
me (a newcomer time-nut and intermediate Linux user) ... you had said:

I would be interested, I think. Planning ahead for if the one I have for my
Thunderbolt fails, I guess. Are there different models or would a photo of the
input ports on mine be useful?
PS: Funny running into you here! :)

Wow, given all the responses about the cleanliness of the power into a
Thunderbolt, I would be even more interested in a power supply that did *not*
leave the "last mile" up to me. I would be more interested in a "pretty clean"
power supply that I could just plug in and go. Any thoughts of me
With the talk of Thunderbolt power supplies and their qualities, and after
seeing the post about the TAPR HPSDR LPU... I am beginning to wonder about
the power source I have for mine, as the "Temp" field shown on the following
link has always been funny. It seems to track and keep the outputs up w
I would also suggest using NTP. I have set it up and configured it using the
directions here ( http://www.satsignal.eu/ntp/setup.html ) and it works very
well.
One thing to note is that Windows 10 does have the built in capability to set
the time for itself, using a variant of SNTP. So I
and very easy to set up and use.
I hope that some of this helps.

Hi all, long time lurker, novice time-nut.
I've had this Tbolt for a while now, and while it appears to be operating
normally, I thought that I would ask about the "Temp" or temperature field that
is being reported in both TBOLTMON and Lady Heather's.

I watched this video totally in awe at how much "hands-on" processing was
required. I am not sure what I thought before, but I suppose this level of
work was done for most every technical thing back then. I really got a huge
kick out of seeing every step of the process. I was also in awe of t
I saw that someone was using one of these:

a price for one, but only quotes. This can only mean that they are really
ime-nuttery. It's not an
inexpensive hobby, even at the low end. But it's probably cheaper than a diet
of loose women and beer!

I really am blown away by this... I have never before been able to do this sort

How would one go about testing power supplies and seeing how noisy they are? I
have the standard suite of tools, an oscilloscope and a little (dangerous)
know-how. I am just not sure what to look for or how to safely hook it up to
test.
Thanks in advance for any tips!

Lee,
Welcome to the list! I happen to have just installed a Leo Bodnar GPSDO and
it is running currently here. It is a *very* nice unit, well thought out, and
nicely put together. The price is a bit steep for an entry level device,
however I feel it is work it.

I've used that sparkfun part to great success... Works like a charm. Highly
